i need a set of 4 , or 2 of one of 2 sets if that makes any sense, for example , 4 azenis or 2 z1’s and 2 re-01’s
they can be new or used.
Dunlop Direzza Z1 - 195/55/15
Bridgestone Potenza RE-01 - 195/50/15
Falken Azenis RT-215 or 615 - 195-205/50/15

The VictoRacers and RA-1’s are R-compounds, worlds away from RT-615/RE-01R/Z1 StarSpec…
How low can the tread be before you would not buy them? Just asking because most guys I know that run those tires shave to 2/32 before they use them.

I have been eying up the Falkin Azenis RT-215 or 615 - 195-205/50/15 Definatly going to purchase a set for front tires when the tax return comes in.

The RT-215’s aren’t even made anymore…haven’t for years actually. The 215’s were a great tire buy performed miserably in the wet, so Falken changed the compound slightly, and modified the tread for better traction in wet conditions. Sadly they weren’t quite as fast in the dry, and once hot tend to be greasy. The greasyness leads them to be almost silent and you lose traction…not a good feeling at all.
In terms of dry grip the RE-01R and Z1 StarSpec are the tires to have, at least until Bridgestone and Toyo release the brand new RE-11’s and R1R’s respectively (reported to be as later as May/June)

show me what you got , and there are a few shops around that do still have the rt215’s that they have held on to and will sell for a pretty price. i have had them multiple times before and LOVE them…
i dont care about tread , just tell me what ya got

If they do in fact have the actual 215 in stock, which I highly doubt…lots of comapnies just never removed them from the inventory lists. I’d be SUPER hesitant to buy a tire that sat for as many years as they obviously have, especially since Falken has not cast them in several years. They tend to get hard and brick-like after even a year or two of sitting.
I have a full set of 4 RT-615’s (205/50/15) that were shaved to 4/32 and heat cycled new…but have about 1-2/32 left at most…basically just getting fast, and will continue to get faster until they cord. They’re worth no more than 70 bucks if you want them.

Yep. Most guys get between 300 and 400 runs (auto-x, 35 sec avg course) on a set of shaved Azenis. I figure there is about 100 runs left in them. I would not run them as street tires, ESPECIALLY in the wet.
