# WTB for a friend: Turbo for WRX

Not sure what turbo she has currently, but she said its on its way out.
Looking to help her find a turbo for her 2.5lter Subaru WRX. It is an aftermarket setup right now that came with the car when she purchased it. Shes looking for used or new, but trying to get prices.
If you can help. Please let me know.
If you need more info to help with this question, please ask. I have not search for turbos before.

If its an aftermarket setup of some sort, id find out what it is before purchasing anything, chances are the up-pipe/down-pipe ext could be different.

[buffaloscooby.com](http://buffaloscooby.com) could also be a big help not only finding a local turbo, but getting in touch with knowledgable subaru guys.

if she has no idea what kind of turbo she has then how confident are you that she is correctly diagnosing the turbo as being on it’s way out?

Bump:
My buddy just lost his turbo and his job as well. No his turbo didn’t fall off his car while he was driving lol. Anyways, he is looking to either rebuild his or buy a used one. If anyone has anything lmk
He is leaning towards rebuild. Any shops you guys would suggest?

He asked if it would bolt up, and he has no idea what is in there now. I figured they all are the same stock for a 2010?
Says he can’t find anything online on what’s in there and that his exhaust in not Vband.

2010? How many miles?
Seems like he either beat the piss out of the car or he drives a lot.
If the car is stock and still under warranty, he would be foolish not to take it to the dealership.

Not many people have IHI turbos rebuilt. I think there’s only 1 shop that does them due to the availability (or should I say, nonavailability) of parts. Not worth it IMHO.

Just keep in mind that any turbo other than a vf52 will REQUIRE a tune- not optional. A td-04 (from a bugeye) will be a noticeable performance hit, and not worth it because of the cost of the tune. If I was paying for a tune, might as well get a good aftermarket performance turbo to go with it.
