ok i got an xbox as a wedding gift and i just beat halo2 last night. how’s this live stuff work. is there a subscription or just one time cost? wireless? is it worth it? any help would be gr3eat bc i’m clueless on the live stuff… ☹
also, what are some good fps & driving games that i can pick up used. mind you i don’t need the brand new ones bc the old ones are new to me :boink

Actually, Live is far better quality as far as game play goes.

Live \> Kai
Free \> $50 /year
I had Live for my legit Xbox for the 3 free months that came with the xbox and I hate to say it but I loved it. I even went and bought 2 head sets so my and my buddies could BS with the guys on there. It matches you up with people of similar skill level and game types that you want to play. You need fast internet (cable or DSL) and a way to connect the xbox to it. A simple router is ideal and there is a wireless network adapter you can get seperately for the xbox if you can’t run cables to your router. They used to have a per month charge of like $7 or something like that but I think they want to head towards the $50/year deal. I could not find any mention of a monthly charge the last time I looked. I never played racing games because the only game I had for Live was Halo 2.
Kai is a little bit different but the concept is the same. it lets you run System Link games over the internet. You need a PC to emulate the network between xboxes. If you are asking about Live, I assume this is beyond your skill level.

yup also i don’t think i’ll be able to justify the time/money for how little i use my xbox

yeah… i mean there are ways to make sure that you get lined up with similar gameplay on kai (regarding level of ability and speed in connection) that will make kai a lot more livable… when i first set it up and was a noob i was like fuck this!.. but it works
then again, i only play games for like 15 minuets and then never again for ages… so paying would either not be worth it, or cause me to play more video games which isn’t really what i wanna do.
live is sweet though with the whole ‘friends’ bullshit and being able to send invites and whatnot… i’ll still take free over paying anyday 🙂

theres xbc which is free and all but xbox live is so much better… I play halo 2 for hours on end its a terrible addiction ☹

h2 is the only game i was given and its pretty awesome but i like the head to head so that’s why i was considering this… but honestly, i’lm afraid i’ll spend too much time playin it if i get live. damn wife, job, house, etc. :down:
