What are the chances of being able to stand in the little oval to take photos of people drifting?

You won’t be able to stand inside the oval because of the layout. There are plenty of places to stand and get good shots.

I did my own little addition to the diagram. I was thinking those would be the “safest” for being in the track area. Find out from them if we can and I will fill out any and all liability waivers I need to! All risk is on me and any thing that was to happen would not come down to a lawsuit or anything like that. lol I just think that is the best places to get the sickest pictures. And I know you would agree.
They wouldnt even know I was there. :snky:

Actually now that I look at the layout again there is a place to stand. The bottom of the center oval has a wall that you could stand behind. It’s just above the ‘S’ in Start Line and runs left to right for that whole center track.
The spots you’ve marked won’t work because there won’t be any barricades or walls there. And it’s a lot tighter than it looks in pictures.

Josh… rally event photographers dont have barriers. haha I am all game on nothing inbetween me and the car! I love the fear of getting hit, get your heart pumping when you almost get taken out. Had a few close calls at the motocross track. lol
So behind the wall there would be fine? If so, I’m going to see if I can make this. Wont be bringing the car/driving it on the track. With no food and drinks, You said it was free? did I see that right?

Yep as far as I can tell. You’ll probably need to sign a waiver too.
And if you want to just show up you can, but you can’t beat $25 for unlimited food & drinks + beer.

Yeam, there is a 0% chance of you going where you placed X’s. Grandstands, behind the main bank, or _maybe_ at the starting grid area with access to the infield behind the retaining wall.

If you stay out wide, which you’ll need to to take the proper line to get you down the next turn/straight combo it’s smooth. There will be a couple cones sitting there to tell you where you should be.

Yeah… disappointment on stupid regulations on where you can stand. Once a waiver is filled out, you should be good to do what you want. All risk is taken off of the owners of the track and placed on the one who signed away their life. lol
I’ll see if I have any connections and who I can talk to, in which I can go closer atleast than what would be behind the damn fencing. lol
I do have an orange vest if that helps. haha

You could have the owner of the track tell you it’s ok. It’s not ok with me. You are not standing in an area not protected by a wall. End of discussion.

Them letting you sign a waiver doesn’t rule out total negligence. It isn’t public property that you’re talking about and I’m sure that they don’t think having a photographer with a death wish being splattered on the infield is a good marketing scheme.

Not when it creates a clusterfuck of risk and stupidity.
You’re really being an idiot about this. You’ve openly stated that you enjoy putting your life at risk for the sake of a photo. Good for you but most of us don’t want the day ruined by someone else’s poor decisions.
Oh, and Mike may not be the owner, but he’s involved in organizing the event.

That is completely different, a bike jumping over a stationary car vs a car potentially losing control and slamming into a person while going sideways at speed.
So let’s take his first “x” for where to stand as an example (right after the bank). So person A in a their car comes around the bank, 3rd or 4th gear, sideways, wheel speed is 80-110mph, vehicle speed is in the 60mph range, they bobble on the bank and dive down low trying to recover, car spins, and heads right for that lower section where dumbass photographer A happens to be standing. What happens then? Oh yeah, we have a funeral for dumbass photographer A and Driver A faces potential litigation and mental anguish from idiot A standing there.
It’s NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. We will have predefined places people will be allowed to stand if they want to get “closer” to take photos. They will still be behind walls and or barriers.
