Wow. 61 replies and noone mentioned a C5 Corvette convertible.
Yes you can find them for under $15,000. Have a look see on ebay. 100,000 miles is NOTHING for a well-kept LS1, and Vette owners (especially original owners) tend to be on the anal side when it comes to car maintanance.

This is tough as i know for me it would be the C-5 as basically anything i own has to be able to make 600hp because I have issues. However i I just wanted a fun car to cruise around I love the S2K. I also love cobras. I suck at answering your question.

I actually had a typo, I meant if you had a AP1 to switch to the AP2 retainers since they are stronger. I would say do your swap but use your current (F22C) retainers if you are planning on tracking it.
