well I compiled a list of pretty much what I have done to and spent on my Z, It is somewhat incomplete due to loss of memory and not counting stuff I bought and later replaced such as the first turbo motor swap or the first set of aftermarket rims or clutches etc so here it is;

engine so far:

pistons…800
rods…100
ACL race bearings…250
intercooler…300
cometic HG’s…275
gasket set…150
pathfinder manifold…45
greddy bov…200
turbosmart wg…250
turbonetics gt35r…1250
injectors…275
rail stock…50
microtech…1500
rad…300
ACT clutch…400
lifters…200
cams…300
megan afpr…100
adj cam gears…100
oil cooler+ adapter.100
machine work…1000
starter…75
alternator…140
t-belt kit…250
arp bolts…100
2 walbro 255lph…300
electric fan+sensor.165
exhaust…200
random lines…250
tb…50

Exterior:

paint…1000 (I had a friend do it so that was the cost of paint and shop rental)
work wheels…500 (got them from a friend in Japan)
tires…400
windshield…220
undercoating…100

Suspension:

Illuminas…800
Intrax springs…100
tie rods…85
ball joints…90
adj. camber mod…10
poly bushings…100
steering rack…15
wheel spacers…80
Painted all suspension components
Other:

stitch welded body…free by me
stereo…200
pillar pods…35
gauge…120
painted trim…15
tint…120
headlights…60
shaved antenna, side markers, rear wiper and replaced rear quarters (done with body work and paint)
new brake pads…140
steering wheel…50
tenzo R seats…600
LSD…200

So roughly all together plus the original 1200 for the cost of the car I have spent 15715. I am sure there is a few things I am forgetting but that is the rough estimate. Not bad for a Z that will put out about 500rwhp, have new suspension and new paint. I mean what can you buy new that would compete with that???

Another step taken care of, got a windshield installed today. Never have I seen such clear glass in a vehicle. Finally I can take the car outside and wash her. Wow it is dusty looking with a flash.

I don’t care if evan posts a picture of his hairy butt. He is cool and is a mechanic and know what he is talking about. He knows that I have no real training for vehicles and yet can do most anything on my car. So he is saying exactly what you are, go out and learn for yourself. Now stop the clutter on my thread.

Figure your life out.

My NEW intake manifold. I decided to do some more metal work and have now started on both an intake manifold aswell as turbo headers made from 316 stainless. I have a few pic of the progress as of now I hope to have the water jet cut flanges from the shop next week so I can start welding. Not too many people make this stuff for my car and if they do it is custom so finding ideas took a bit of work.

Are those prices all in US$, CDN$, or a mix? And is that a mix of new and used parts, all used, or all new? Some of those prices seem unbelievably cheap.

US and CDN new and used. What looks cheap in particular?

I could be wrong but my understanding was that its HOT coolant that runs through the throttle body to help prevent icing that could cause the butterfly to stick (a rare unlikely scenario, but that’s besides the point), and that’s the only reason I know of for it being there.

So in theory, deleting these lines to the TB should free up a couple horsepower, directionally.

Just a few items I was curious about:

pistons…800 (reasonable. I’d probably be looking at $600-1000 USD for forged pistons for my Z32)
rods…100 (used oem? that seems fairly cheap).
intercooler…300 (holy crap… CDN$? thats so cheap)
greddy bov…200 (you don’t wanna know what I spent for the HKS SSQV kit for my Z32)
turbonetics gt35r…1250 (US$ or CDN$? New or used? Damn that’s cheap… and you only need to buy ONE. Lucky SOB)
injectors…275 (what? what brand? new? I’m looking at ~$750 USD minimum for a set of 6 nismo injectors 555+)
rail stock…50 (that’s cheap, a new fuel rail for the Z32TT is about $140USD)
rad…300 (CDN or US? My new Koyo was a little over $300 USD)
lifters…200 (oem? new? I think a full set of new oem hydraulic lifters for my car is upwards of $300 USD)
cams…300 (that’s cheap too. what kind?)
adj cam gears…100 (wow… adj. JUN cam gears are like $300 USD EACH for the Z32)

machine work…1000 (that’s it? cool. Is that for bottom end and head work (ie. everything)?)
arp bolts…100 (which bolts? That seems mega cheap too)
exhaust…200 (jaw drops… Stainless? Mandrel bent? full or catback? new/used? local custom?)
tb…50 (gotta be a used oem TB, right?)

Suspension:

Illuminas…800 (that’s about what I’d expect)
Intrax springs…100 (must be used, eh? I sold my old set of Intrax springs to a guy for $120 CDN a couple years back).

LSD…200 (cool, you found one! what type of car did it come from?) - I bought that used R230 from you last fall, remember.

injectors…275 us, new venom injectors
rail stock…50 cdn, new and I had to put a bunch of work into those

Lifters…130us+shipping, new from courtesy nissan, remember you need double what i do
cams…300us, regrinds from cam tequniques (florida I think)
cam gears…, used. they don’t really make em for my car but a z31 guy is a machinist and does them up for the elite few
machine work was through my friend again and it was all done at d&w performance engine s
ARP bolts…200cdn, new was through the friend again and these are just rod bolts with rod resize (That was 108 of it)

You might as well add nitrous Jason, its going to be so stupidly fast. Props for going all out!

I’d like to see how that intake manifold works out and if you can fit it under the stock hood. Are you mounting the throttle body right on the end of it and what kind of tb are you using?

Does this mean you might be willing to sell your pathfinder manifold?

</div>

I will be putting a slight bend onto the end of the manifold, I am probably going to use a 90mm q45 tb. I am selling the pathfinder manifold if anyone is interested. I don’t want nitrous as of now, we will see when it is all put together. I don’t think it will be necessary though. Also, my intake manifold sits lower than the pathfinder manifold, and sits right in the cowl of the hood, so clearance will be better than it was with the pathfinder manifold.

I know the housing isn’t, but if the carrier bolts right in and takes the stock axles I am a happy man. Hopefully I can get something shipped over from Japan for cheap. :E
