its not always about the width of the tire, its the compound, and how much of it meets the road. a true 10inch section width tire will fit fine on a 9inch wheel with no draw backs. youre just a panzy and wont run a good compound because youre afraid to drive it. a 28x10.5" tire is in the 7s and 8s. no need for a 12inch mediocre street tire that still wont hook. a good 285 will fit no problem on them, plus you wont look like you live on South Pearl Street anymore. ---

This gives you more room to play with width. I have 275/35ZR18s on a 9" ---

after a cleaning it turns out the wheels arent in as good of shape as i thought, some of the paint is starting to chip and fade.
