Im all for uniqueness but a rusted out car looks like shit… the rust holes on my thunderbird are from wear and tear, they symbolize a beat vehicle not a unique one
A few rust holes here and there symbolize the lack of attention or effort, an entire car covered with surface rust, symbolizes deliberate styling statement, whether one likes it or not.

Its still different, rust is damage to the metal. It would be like me getting a nice car and pounding dents into with a hammer, yes it would be unique but the exterior would just be ruined.

Surface rust barely sacrifices the integrity of the metal. It does destroy and ruin any paint potential on the vehicle yes, but with rat rods and the general rusted trend has been around for years and usually if cared for (yes cared for rust), it won’t lead to the car physically falling apart.
Older BMW’s did use thicker gauge sheet metal as well, which helps considerably.
I mean to each his own. If that dude Justin is happy driving a 20 second car with little to no aftermarket support then so be it. If someone wants to promote rust, a cars mortal enemy, for a appearance… be my guest. I still think its a retarded idea. I enjoy uniqueness, but I would rather take good ideas and use them in my own personal way.
Style is personal taste. I think rat rods are one of the most boldly styled cars around and when that look is duplicated on a different car and pulled off well… it’s awesome.
