Now this is a VERY WEIRD picture :eek2 The only recorded swap that I’m aware of with a mechnically fuel injected motor swapped into a 962 was Golbert and his Lowenbrau car, iirc it was in '84 or '85. HOWEVER, it was an aircooled 3.2L from his 935.

That motor is a liquid cooled head/air cooled cylinder, likely one of the 3.0L motors, but also clearly Bosch mechanically fuel injected. Very interesting indeed.

You know how nutty I am with this chassis. Good photo!!!(and +rep)

Fuck, why do I keep getting the “must spread some rep around before giving this person rep” tag bull crap all the time? Maybe if there were posts worth me giving rep to other people than the few I have done so for already then I’d spread the wealth a bit.

Weaksauce. My rep is confined to that of three sub categories. Let me distribute freely I say!

Ok I’m done now :tongue

LOL. You’re nuts adam. I can’t even figure out what cars some of these pictures are of.

Sauber C9 (with updated m119 engine)

holy shit that’s awesome.

This is a pretty nifty race modification. The mechanical fuel pump is running on a 6 throw crankshaft driven at cam speed. This way instead of having a halibrand style injection that feeds all cylinders continuously, fuel is only shot into the intake tract when the air velocity is high providing much better fuel atomization. This would also prevent fuel pooling behind the intake valves, and increase fuel economy.

Still not as good as a piezoelectric injector though like the Sauber is running 8 of.

John and the hi-res doing work. Photo you snagged yourself? You always seem to have sweet “sans-bodywork” hi-res shots of GTP/prototypes.

Mike, I’m that way with 956/962 and 934/935 and nothing else. Ok and the Mclaren but that’s it :tongue

that picture isn’t big enough

The 956 and 935’s were originally mechanically injected and later switched to the motronic EFI(and even later in the 962 to the “double DME” motronic). While not nearly as performing as EFI is now, I’m still a huge fan of the mechanically injected P-cars. If nothing else I think it’s the sound of the cars. The old MFI and CIS car has such a distinct engine decel noise that makes my spine tingle. At RR3 there was such a sweet '87 930 with a flat fan 935 MFI 3.2L in it. Grand theft auto definitely crossed my mind :lol

I came close to building a 914-“6”, but other things took precedence. I had a shit chassis and still have the M64/03(3.6 flat six) that I was going to put in it. Those cars rip on the track.

Tube chassis and V8 in that one. Yum. Like a mini Ultima GTR

Figured you’d like it.

Yum Yum.

Let’s get some crazy 4 cylinder, turbo, hardcore, local hair dresser machine in here :shifty

I-za working on it… I promise good sir :(:(:frowning:

I see 2 per cylinder in the pic with 2 more on the valve cover?!??!

:lol
