New car for mike

So it turns out this car was a complete pile of dog shit, I spent all day yesterday driving from rochester to boston just to see the 100s of problems with that car and turn around a leave… thats not to mention the two full days I spent at the DMV trying to get it insured.

Aww man, that blows. Better luck with the next one

You seem to have terrible luck with cars.

take a look at the ad: http://www.rs25.com/forums/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=7468

I talked to the guy on the phone multiple times and asked over and over again, are there any problems with it, how is the paint, any rust, any check engine lights?

He insisted it was all in great shape…

here is what I found wrong:

  • Rust on hood and driver’s door
  • Dents, dings, scratches over entire body
  • Front bumper scuffed and held on with zip-ties
  • Rear bumper had a license plate imprint… Read More
  • Speedometer was non-functional
  • Odometer was non-functional
  • Rims were extremely shady (he didn’t know if the hubs were 5x114 or 5x100, it had STI wheels with some type of rusted insert around the lug holes)
  • Front signal lights did not work
  • Driver’s headlight was cracked
  • Hood did not close properly
  • Driver’s front fender did not fit properly
  • No A/C
  • No catalytic converter or O2 sensors
  • Wires hanging down interfering with using the brake pedal
  • Head unit for the stereo looked like it was about to fall out
  • No rear defrost button
  • No windshield wipers
  • Hoses were not attached for the windshield washer fluid
  • Etc…
*mileage on title did not match carfax

WOW that sounds ghetto as fuck :lmao :lmao
sorry to hear that

did you get your deposit back yet?

he said he mailed it today. It turns out NYS still is going to charge me $50 bucks and I have to file paperwork to get the taxes back… even though I told them it was basically totaled when I saw it.

shitty man.

sorry to hear. looked promising at first glance too.

im starting to really dislike subaru owners. for the most part if they worked on their car, it’s fucked and they dont know how to do a goddam thing when it comes to wrenching. they bring it to a shop that overcharges and does a shit job as well…

when it comes to selling or buying, they are worse than honda owners. ive never had such a hardtime trying to buy parts…

that car has been for sale for a long ass time

Not to make a generalization… But a lot of these “Honda” owners have since graduated into Subies, Evos, and the like as they get bored of one type of car and move into another. Not to mention, prices drop enough on the cars to make them more accessible. The turbo cars are more complex in nature, making them more susceptible to problems compared to the average Honda. So it kinda makes sense that owners would face more problems and if the person was not forthcoming to begin with- there is more potential to hide stuff.

To OP: Sorry to hear about the crappy find. It’s a waste of time, but at least you were not committed to buying it… Seller probably thought you would still go for it since you invested the time and made the trip out there. Sucks he was not honest…
