PMP certification

I have no idea what you are talking about.

My PMP is right on course for an R&D effort.

Congrats!

How is that Masters coming along? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m 600v hybrid certified … but that’s a whole different world

It’s up next. I have to go to E. Chicago next week to run AC/DC training with Fry and once that’s over, I’m going to try and whip up a nice review of NFPA 70E and R&D safety standards/training

That sounds like much more fun than my 600V training. Hopefully they make you wear lots of PPE when in the area of anything energized near 600V :stuck_out_tongue:

.

Bump, looking for some info from people who have their PMP cert. I don’t work in project management but am interested in it, have my BA in business and I’m looking for a way to differentiate myself and open up some doors career wise. Is this cert really more for people who already work in this field? Would getting it while in a different field open up lucrative opportunities within project management, or at that point would I still have to slum it a few years in an entry level position in order to get anywhere?

In again…PM is part of my upcoming schooling. Interested to hear the feedback.

I know there is a lot of Praxair guys here and that company loves this cert.

Moog is big on the PMP, but at the same time it seems like you hit a major ceiling if you have one; essentially it leads you into Program Management, then you’re stuck and not going anywhere up the ladder past that.

That does seem true, PMP is great if you truly enjoy the project mgmt career path but there is room to move here and there. I’m CAPM (entry to PMP) through IIL as well as Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma. I’ve found the Lean Six training/cert way more beneficial and able to utilize vs. straight PMP cert. I’m going to complete the Black Belt lean six before I even look into PMP.

Some companies base promotions/hires based on certs and not on performance/accomplishments/etc…
