PPC GPS Maps

what are u going to run it on?

I’m using a holux 236 bt gps unit with my qtek 9100 (cingular 8125/tmo mda) along with tomtom 5.21 with v567 usa maps. It’s awesome. For those on oink, the .t is there with me still seeding.

I’ve messed with mapopolis and wasn’t too impressed.

naw mapopolis isnt that good, but they do give a free trial which is cool.

you lost me… With my sanyo 5600 I can use the phone’s screen and the internal GPS and they have garmine mobile that works great. I know that garmine mobile doesn’t work on the ppc, so I was wondering if there was software that used the internal GPS on the ppc, or if you needed the bluetooth GPS antenna for it to work?

that phone has built in GPS?, if so then it shouldent be an issue, but im not sure if what i have will work, do u have ppc or smart phone os?

It does have built in GPS, but I am thinking of getting a ppc… so what I was wondering is with the ppc, do you need an external gps antenna?

If the ppc doesn’t have a built in gps antenna, then you need an external one. As for regular phones with gps, they’re probably only used for telling you a coordinate, not necessarily for driving.

The Sanyo 5600, 8300, and 7400 have the ability to be used for driving… works just like the normal GPS systems.

I am wondering if the ppc has the built in antenna or if the external one is needed?

hmm not sure, but those screen are awefulyl small for a full GPS program imo. My PDA screen is even a bit small for my liking, not sure how the heck you would see anything on a phone screen.

but i can give it to you and you can try it.

Im selling my GPS reciever also, pharos, bluetooth, etc… 65 bucks.

Doesn’t Sprint charge you extra for gps service? I could have sworn when I was looking at the blackberries for nextel, they would charge you like $10/month. It’s a lot easier to get a ppc with or without a gps built in. My ppc doesn’t have a gps built in so I bought a bluetooth one for $80. It’s also very small (Holux 236).

It talks and all, so I dont really look at the screen much. I would like to give it a try if you wouldn’t mind

With sprint/nextell, they do charge $10/month… there is a way you dont have to pay it though
