ur a shop tool.
:lol
OH boy…
Anyway, nice score man! When I come over this weekend, we should check Lauren’s wheel bearings. Maybe we will get to devirginize this thing :excited.
:rofl
e man u kno better !
The best thing you can do for this press is to add a pressure gauge. That way you will know when your bearings and whatnot are fully seated, and you know when to stop pressing before you brinell the bearings.
Also the stiffer your press frame the safer it is. Hydraulic presses only shoot parts out when the frame is deflected.
Yes, the gauges are almost a necessity when assembling bearings components or complex components like transmission pinion/gears assemblies. So easy to shear bore races or shaft collars with an overzealous pump hand.
Only issue is good accurate gauges are really expensive, but still worth the money.
You can get a small 1", 5% accurate small sweep 5000psi gauge for 10 bucks at mcmaster, or you can spend $400 on a 4" liquid filled 1% gauge.
When we did hydraulic expansion fits at work, we would put 14,00 psi on a cylinder to expand it, then press in another cylinder using 10 tons of force. And then we could actually take that apart afterwards too. Talk about a BANG!
Silly tight tapered interferences = KABOOOMMM!!! when you take them apart. We had a nice Dake though and we shimmed it for stability, and lots of custom billet fixtures to perform this interference and removal. Taking it apart was the scaryest shit ever. You knew there would be a bang, but you never knew when it was going to happen.
thanks for the coupon… now, where to get $80…hmmmmm
i’ve been doing bushing work the hard way with a recip saw and a mapp torch for so long.
now start collecting as many big sockets and random piping, etc for collets…
exactly same here, minus the saw. its pissing me off that i’m not far enough along on the cadillac to use it yet. soon enough though!
Updates?
What brace were you guys talking about?
updates about what kid? i already got this thing! lol i gotta buy metal and cad parts now before i buy any more tools.
