My "Other" Conquest Project

Saw the car last week, wiring is a cluster fuck. But holy hell at some of the awesome parts, chassis isn’t that bad either.

The LSD differentials in these are real good. They always turn both wheels, if spinning. I’ve never really tried “drifting”…aside from getting it out around some onramps and stuff. It would be fun though…where do u guys drift?

ok, I don’t see a black one in the line up. Found this one for you: http://binghamton.craigslist.org/cto/791977637.html

My brother’s Conquest is black, and it is in the driveway…just not in the pics. Hahaha

Here it is…kinda.

Hahaha…I can take a picture tomorrow.

You bought the car from that guy in rochester? The one i got mine from?

Yes sir. I got a REALLY good deal on it. PM me if you wanna know…i don’t remember if i mentioned it in the thread or not. lol

I continued cleaning/degreasing the engine bay yesterday…its getting better and better…

The car came with a new wiper linkage assembly, because the one on the car, is messed up bad. Problem is…I don’t know what I’m going to do, to get the old one off. This is the problem I have here. The big nut on the bottom, has to be removed some how, so the knob can drop down thru the cowl panel. By the looks of the threads, it isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Suggestions?

Today I decided to begin removing the chipguard from the quarterpanels. It’s all cracked, and blackened. It looks like hell. I didn’t get a before pic from the passenger side, but this is what it looks like on the driver side…the passenger side looked the same.

And this is the passenger side, after I removed the chipguard. The glue still remains…

Any suggestions to get the remaining glue off? I’ve been told GooGone is the way to go. I’m going to the store to try it out and see if it works.

I forgot to mention…I also bought an 88/89 engine wiring harness from a guy on StarQuestClub.Com. At this point, I’m going to remove the MPI wiring, and just have a TBI setup on the car for now. I’ll fiddle around with MPI later. I just want it to run

any sort of thinner will work on the goo, so will most paint reducers, lighter fluid, gas, kero,

anything that will burst into flames and is pretty damn poisonous to drink will take that goo off

for the nut…

Unless it has to be salvaged

cut the top of the bolt off right above the nut

or use a six point socket and breaker bar and make it come off…

doesnt look to be too hard

Thanks for the goo tips! I will give them a try.

As for the nut, I forgot to mention that the stud the nut is tightened to, spins when you try to loosen it. I think thats how the threads got chewed up when the previous owner was trying to hold it in place.

you forgot about your old person boost gauge

Hahahah yes. The boost gauge is HUGE on this thing. Guy musta been really concerned with seeing his PSI levels.
