listen hids are all dependent on manufacturer and the brand name but for rule of thumb 4000k yellow 5000k white 6000k white with a blue/purple hue 8000k deeper purple with a whiteish tint 9000 purple 10000k deep purple but with rankin those are def not purple at all and they light like my 6000ks i had in my gsr. and also remember as a note to buying hids the higher in the kelvin scale you go the less lumes are emitted out so that means the higher you go the less light they will emit onto the road.
oem auto manufactuers use 4300k. which is white. i think benz is a tad bit brighter, around 5500k. not sure though.
you are correct i apologize its actually 3000k which are yellow
10K is just really blue…which is what most OEM cars with projectors/HID’s emit anyway (to oncoming traffic due to projector color shifting - the output that drive sees is 4300k though).

Correct partially. As stated above, 4300k is OEM which is white.
But the rule of thumb you definitely nailed: Higher you go in Kevlin temp, the less usable output you get. 3000k is the best in rain, etc. 12000k on the other hand sucks in such weather.

How was he way off, all you did was post some images you nabbed off of ebay that supoorted exactly what he said, and light output is not directly related to light temperature. It’s not a set scale, anywhere from 4000k-6000k has the highest output measured in lumens, below and above that light output gradually falls off, 3000k is piss yellow, 4000k is the purest white generally, this is why many oem manufacturers use 4300K, 5000K is a tinge of blue/sky blue, 6000k is the usual ricer blue, 7000-8000k is starting to turn purple, 10000k is quite purple, anything above that you should not even be buying, however some companies market temps as high as 20000k which are bright fucking pink.
I actually just read his complete post (I jumped the gun, I admit - he started off with color temps being the wrong colors and I was in essence making my post about that).
