FOR SALE
1974 BMW BAUR TARGA
ONE OF 285 BUILT IN 1974 BY BAUR COACHWERKS
$17.5K
From 1971 to 1975 BMW sent 1,963 2002 coupes to Baur Coachwerks in Stuttgart, Germany for conversion to Targas. The roof was cut off behind the windscreen and the windscreen was then angled back a few degrees to give a lower roofline. The Targa center section was fabricated and added to the body and a removable roof section was fabricated and added over the driver and passenger, and stores in the boot when not used. A folding soft top was designed to cover the rear seating area. All mechanicals remained the same as on the 2002 coupe.
Baur Targas were never officially imported and sold in the United States, but several have made their way here via servicemen, collectors and enthusiasts.
More descriptive info is available, along with additional photographs. Along with the sale of the Targa comes some NOS parts.

Thx guys, totally love these cars. Would love to own one.

Awesome looking car, with a terrible steering wheel.

so clean but wtf is up with that rats nest of wiring in the center console???

Missing radio maybe? Doors have speakers it looks like. But no headunit?

You wouldn’t believe the amount of 2002’s that have that. Mine was EXACTLY like that when I got it.

I’ve always liked these things but I never realized how weird the roof was.

Looks like he never drove it haha. GLWS!

Nice car. This guy lives near me, I can’t say that too often. I can’t wait to see the 1973 2002.

How many miles?

About 2. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Joe this is all the info i have. Any questions should be directed to his email or cell.

I have the PDF and pics. A little disappointed in it :frowning: a little rust but in good places. But tons of parts for the thing. Its decent but needs tons of work. Will post it in a few days. Working overnights makes me un motivated.

" Along with the sale of the Targa comes some NOS parts."

wait, what?

New/Old Stock.

Thx, just was about to post the same.
