I drive this every day 66 round trip miles to work and back, and no longer need a 4wd truck so I need a better MPG daily commuter, as the truck gets 17mpg, but its just not enough for me driving 330 miles a week+.
quick run down:
1998 Ranger extended cab. 4.0L V6 with auto trans. 4X4. AC. crank windows manual locks. Factory tape and 6 disk changer all speakers work fine. Also comes with a Leer fiberglass rear truck cap.
Recent repairs:
New battery
Plugs, wires and air filter
2 new calipers on the front, installed last week
Front pads 6 months old 60% left, rotors are still decent
Left and right upper ball joint/control arms still in new box, just too lazy to put them in. Bought them to get rid of the squeaky noise from dry ball joints because they aren’t greasable stock.
Tires are about 3500 miles old.
Rear diff fluid was replaced last week when I did the calipers with new synthetic gear oil
Newer rear bumper installed
Running condition:
Turn key and drive. NO CELS, no wiring issues, motor runs perfect, doesn’t leak any fluids. Hasn’t ever stranded me, never started hard or anything odd. Like I said I drive it every day. 4X4 works fine, used it this winter in 4 high without issues. 4 low works fine, vac locking front hubs work great and don’t stick. Don’t even need to back up to unlock like some ford electric 4wds seem to need to. Body has some surface rust issues on the bed from poor body work the prior owner did. Rockers, floor, doors, cab corners are all solid and no rust at all. The front bumper is rusted on one side. Frame is solid, brake lines are solid, CV’s dont have slop, P - R - N - D doesn’t clunk at all going between each selection. Interior is clean, grey cloth seats, big rubber floor mats, no tears or stains, non smoker.
I should be doing the body work, getting a front bumper, painting the bed and selling it in mint condition for $4500+.
