2000 Jetta TDI 5-Speed

From original thread when I bought the car from @gotdubd back in July of 2011.

Here we go:
00 TDI Jetta
353K miles (that is not a typo)
Manual trans.
Silver on black cloth
Crank windows, no sunroof
Pioneer DEH-6300UB radio
Recently recharged A/C

$3000 – Includes (but not installed) Raceland coils with all new mounts, and primered OEM Aristos without tires.

  • I’ll throw in a hood bra that will clean up the front a bit, and any spare parts I have.

It was a one owner car through about 330K (I believe), dealer maintained. There are a stack of receipts, some from random shops, mostly for oil changes and simple things. Guessing by the array of locations, this dude traveled A TON for work.

Shortly before he got rid of it it had the timing belt and water pump done, turbo replaced, clutch, and brake job. Realistically there is no huge maintenance needed. The EGR is clean, and it gets a solid 45-48mpg consistently. The headlights are newer, no foggy jawns.

Since I bought it I did new ball joints and replaced the control arms with new bushings. It needs suspension, I have a set of Racelands I’m willing to add in if wanted, also it is in pretty bad need of tires. I have a set of Aristos in primer that I could spray and (if wanted) get tires for.

There is serious stone chip/rust gnar on the hood and the front of the roof. Both front fenders look like garbage and recently I smacked up one of the rear quarters. The interior is as clean as I could possibly make it, but there are coffee stains on the seats and one has a tear.

This car is NOTHING to write home about cosmetically, but it works, and it works really well. If it was up to me I would keep it, but if this deal goes through the last thing my old man wants is an eyesore in the driveway.

I really hate to sell this car because I absolutely LOVE driving it. With that being said, here we go.

Since I purchased the car from Dan.

-Miles 378,000
-Castrol Edge SPT 5w40
-Raceland coils installed and lowered
-Aristos 2 summers
-Stock wheels have studded snows, 2nd winter
-Aligned at Scruggs in 2013
-GTI Recaro cloth seats black/red great condition
-Fixed rust on the hoof, hood and various other locations on car.
-Door was nipped in a parking lot, pulled dent and replaced window. (No note)
-Recharged AC summer 2013
-Replaced the manual regulator in drivers door with metal clips and new cable.
-Interior LED bulbs
-Smoked fender markers
-Replaced wiper motor
-Charge tube replaced (Black Forest)
-New wipers this winter
-New rear pads and rotors
-Driverside rear wheel bearing replaced
-New glowplugs 375k
-New battery at 375k
-Starter motor replaced at 377k
-Just installed new 10 MM injector pump at 377k (Black Forest)
-Just installed fresh water pump/timing belt (Black Forest)

I’m no longer driving the car because the radiator needs to be replaced. The lower core support got worked over during a storm in late February. The car just received a fresh IP and water pump/timing installed at Black Forest. It’s been parked since. Ordered up a new Panzer Plate with oil window from Diesel Geeks. I was going to install this to avoid replacing the core support, and throw in a new radiator but went in a new direction. Box was never opened. Ended up with a new Mini Cooper from Towne. My new position at work has me driving around with the big wigs, and the VW is not that car.

I’d like to get $2000 for the car. The plan was to start parting the car out when the weather cleared up, and there are some good parts which would get me close to that number. The problem is I go in for ACL reconstructive surgery on April 2nd, and will be down and out for while. My time and energy will be going towards rehab.

This car drives great with all the miles it has and owe’s me nothing. Made multiple trips to Stowe, VT on a single tank of diesel. Driving city, I would get around 40 MPG. The best was 640 miles on about 13 gallons to Vermont. Transmission shift smoothly, and the clutch is solid.

There are a few annoyances…When really cold the car will go into limp mode, and restores when you cycle the key. P1557 Charge Pressure Contr. Positive Deviation. Obviously the radiator situation.

Yes it’s plastidipped.

This summer with Aristos on

EDIT: I forgot a couple things.

The front grill was nabbed, so I bought some good quality mesh which will be included. I do still have the stock seats, minus drivers, it was too gnarly to store. Aristros are stored in Lockport, I will grab them for buyer. Car is located in Williamsville, I’m in the city.

Here’s a nice salty pic of how it sits.

I already received a text from someone wanting to see it, and just received a PM…

Was this once mine? Sold it to a guy that worked at Darryl’s and drove a Durango.

Yes sir. Here’s your chance to own it back!

I would love to. Couldn’t be a worse time in my life at the moment though.

I hear ya… Would love to keep it but life happens. I’ll probably regret this

Juatin was this the clean black one with the black leather?

This car has given me a ride to a bar. I approve.

Dude! I put that Bosch battery in a few months before you bought it. That’s weird

I forgot that Dan had a dorango once

3rd row seating whaaaaaa

No this is silver one he picked up in CT with a blown trans… i fixed long before i worked for him. there is an awesome story behind it for me and him that trip ended with us hanging out with some pretty awesome cops in CT.

I figured the part in the OP that said silver on black cloth would have been enough of an indicator.

That didn’t take long…

…sold out of Jetta’s
