2009 Acura lmp1 car

Today is testing for sebring and acura is officially debuting their new lmp1 car, so far this is the only real good pic and details of the powerplant are not known yet. Will be interesting to see how it does against the pugs and audis new car.

Pretty interesting that they are using rear tires up front

It looked way cooler when they were testing it a 2 weeks or so ago in an all black scheme.

Yeah but atleast the green shows off the detail. The big thing for me is the 2009 spec wing, which means maybe this car will be see some time in france  Another engine bay shot

I love race cars that look like race cars. I wouldn’t want to be the guy who crashes the first one though.

If l;ast year was an indication it will probably be David Brabham who crashes it first

soooo hot.

Audi pulled out of 2009 ALMS :frowning:

Eh they will be there for sebring, and more than likely petite and laguna. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just a year off due to the new car.

I’m more concerned with the e92 M3 GTR in the GT2 class

They will have their hands full, FLying Lizards will have two new porsches, Risi will have atleast one 430, The lg vette showed promise last year and you know The factory gt2 vette will pose a big threat. Throw in a random aston, a gt40 or two, a viper (gotta have one backmarker :mamoru:) and the chance of 2-3 more porsches and you have a great field.

yea I’m excited… I wanna go to an event this year so I can get some pics of the aston martin and the GTR

You will probably have to go to Sebring or Petit to see the aston. Looks like the acura is a 4.0l v8 with 620bhp and 370nm. Seems like they are making up for power with aero/mechanical grip. Should work well over here in the alms but will struggle against the diesels in the lms if the decide to run there.

why does the bottom front cross member look like it’s fixed? shouldn’t that be able to move with the rest of the suspension?

Look about a half inch more to the left and you’ll see the pivot location.

The reason they might have a different style end is to minimize compliance. Compliance within a toe link assembly can lead to changes in the toe angle under load.

Or it allows them to shim the toe link to set to toe to the desired angle. I’m pretty sure it’s for shimming

damn, these cars are sweet. Where are these events aired? Do they ever race at VIR?

They are typically aired on speed and abc/nbc depending on the race. Closest race to you will be Mid Ohio or Road Atlanta. FUll schedule can be found at http://www.americanlemans.com/home/ALMSHome.aspx It’s probably the best racing in North America, atleast in my opinion anyways.
