Stock gears on all 4 banger jeeps is 4.10’s so that didn’t change at all. Stock tires are around 28X7 inches that are about 35 pounds rim/tire. My 33x12.5 tires and rims are almost 80 pounds so im guessing yours are about the same weight.
how in the world did you gain 5-7 MPG (about 40%) by adding heavier tires and drastically hurting your gear ratio (bigger tires made my 6 cylinder feel the pain).
unless you’re not mentioning something VERY BIG, or figured out your MPG’s while heading down hill for an entire tank i’m going to have to say you miscalculated your fuel economy
89-94 Toys with 4 cyl 5spd 4x4s are pretty doggy with 31’s, and they DONT get very good mileage either, maybe 20 in good conditions, i would recommend a Jeep cherokee, because atleast you get some good offroad power, and Jeeps are reliable too
so what exactly are you looking for? what do you want to do with it? Just a DD or a fun wheeler type toy?
I would highly recommend finding a 4 door tracker or sidekick with the 16v motor. They have huge aftermarket and can be made into great weekend warriors really cheap.
I was out and about looking at some cars and truck at random tonight, and came across a Suzuki grand vitara. I was rather impressed with it for a mini suv, when I got home I started doing some research on and it can be easily lifted enough to fit 31" tires, add a few other goodies and you would have a pretty bad ass DD and toy.
im looking for a dd and fun wheeler and decent mpg, im looking for a 2 door though. What’s the engine life on these trackers? 150k,200k,300k? Ive seen a nissan that still ran good had 500k miles. Also im guessing the trackers dont have locking hubs for 4x4?
I had a 2000 2dr Tracker last year. Did a bit of offroading, the power isn’t great if you’re planning on Mud Bogging, but it you just want to cruise around that with a few suspension and tire upgrades is pretty fun. And I got 28 MPG even with mostly highway driving. Above 70 MPH though the MPG goes way down.
