I even would like to smack the old heads who label their Yenko Camaros as muscle cars. They never were muscle, and never will be.
Check this out. It is on Musclecarclub.com
Corvette can be both, GT Car, and Sports Car
But if you say pony car as in general talking. most people think only a mustang
cigarette time…be back in a sec
well… they can think what they want… but the Camaro/Firebird was introduced to try to steal away Ford’s “Pony car” market.
Thats one of the sites i yanked the info

Couple good examples of GT vs Sports car
GT Car-Viper GTS or SRT-10 Coupe, Corvette Z06, Ferrari 360 Modena CS, Lamborghini Diablo, Lotus Exige, Ford GT
Sports Car-Viper R/T-10 or SRT-10 Vert, Corvette Vert or Targa, Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder, Honda S2000, Mazda Miata
I dont really know what you could consider the new Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago, since theyre AWD… but I assume GT Car as well.
SRT 10 can’t wait for a coupe version !!!
I posted pics of it before
I forgot there is a srt10 viper
acording to those lists we have car number 5 and 16 on the first one and 3 and 9 on the second list.
what about the 1964 R-3 Studebaker
but, do they have the proper engine and tranny combos?
I know your GS does.
But if I’m not mistaken, a lot of 60’s and 70’s 1/4mi ratings for Muscle Cars were not done on factory tires, in fact I know for certain a lot of them were rated on racing slicks, and long tube headers.
my dads roadrunner has the proper combo, dana 60 rear, 727 tourquflite and a 440 6 barrel engine.
In reality, the 69 Camaro ZL1 would be No. 1, just changing the rear tires. It achieved it’s time crawling out of the hole until 30 mph, then running. This was an all aluminum 427 ci race engine. They made 69 engines, 67 went into Camaros, 2 went into vettes. The hp rating was way underrated. Also, the exhaust manifolds were very mismatched to the heads. They belonged to a different engine. These cars were shipped to dealers and sold to customers with a set of headers in the trunk. Put the viper tires on this car, it would be no. 1.
what happened to the 70 buick 455 stage 1/auto car!? used to be number 3 on the list…dont even see it on here
why you were looking this far back on pittspeed bewilders me…i would have picked shaggy as the culprit for this old as thread being bumped…
There are no cars on the page one list newer than 1997. The 03-04 cobra should be on there, as well as the z06 vettes.
