99 Grand Cherokee Brake Light issue.

My GF got a ticket this evening for her drivers side brake light being out. Replacing the bulb does not fix it so its something more. When you step on the brake pedal the whole left tail light goes out. I believe its 2 bulbs in there though one for the tails and the other for the brake. Any ideas on what I should look for or anyone wanna take a quick glance at it she’s got til monday to prove its fixed or she’s gotta go to court for the ticket.

Thanks man! I’ll take a look at the jeep and try what that thread says tomorrow. Hopefully I can switch the connectors to at least ghetto fix it so it appears to work for the cop before monday before fixing it the right way. +rep btw

Ya have a ishue wit h the twist lock , only way to get em is by gttin a whole new lens , cheap though .

I switched two of the twist lock terminals and everything works now do we can at least get the ticket signed off on in time. Before we get it fixed for real.

In all honesty, eagle eye lights are horrible quality, if you can find another brand i would

I’ll keep that in mind, but in all honesty it prolly wont get fixed til this gives her problems again. It’s a 99 its starting to rust pretty good and has something like 170k miles on it or something. Basically its a drive it til the wheels fall off situation haha.

A friend of mine had the same issue like 3 or 4 times- replaced the bulb each time; worked great. Then a couple days later it was out. The sockets get warped and the connections go bad. Like these guys said; swap out the whole thing; should be good.

I swapped the twist terminals and it’s been good. Yeah every time we switched the bulb it would be out shortly there after. So if it acts up again well get a new assembly but until then were good lol.
