Wideband Air/Fuel Gauge 8.5 to 18:1AFR with Analog Face
AEM Part Number 30-5130

OVERVIEW
AEM’s legendary Wideband O2 Air/Fuel UEGO Gauge unites unsurpassed accuracy, speed and control with an easy to read, analog interface. The unit’s 52mm (2-1/16”) gauge housing fits in most gauge pods and can be remotely mounted virtually anywhere. The gauge also features a 0-5v analog output for use with data loggers and virtually any engine management system, such as the AEM EMS or FIC.

HIGH-TECH ANALOG
AEM’s world famous Wideband O2 UEGO Gauge is a must for anyone looking to maximize engine power and safety. When tuning an engine, accurate Air/Fuel Ratio data is critical. Running rich can cause a loss in power, while running too lean may result in serious engine damage. The 320 degrees of resolution makes it easy to see when there’s even a half a point change in ratio, giving you time to shut things down before damage occurs. A precision high speed electronic stepper motor provides lightning fast needle movement, making the AEM Analog Wideband UEGO Gauge one of the fastest and most accurate gauges available. The backlighting is user adjustable to 7 colors, allowing users to easily match the Air/Ratio gauge to most factory gauge clusters. Each gauge comes with interchangeable black & silver bezels and black and white gauge faceplates for multiple color combinations.

The Bosch 4.2LSU sensor, which gives the controller its speed and accuracy, is laboratory calibrated at the factory and never requires free air calibration when used with an AEM Controller!

Now the disclosure:
I have no idea if this works or not. I put it in my car and got erratic readings so I contacted AEM. I ran through their test procedure and it works fine per their test procedures.

Here’s what I did: I pulled the sensor from the exhaust and powered it up, which pegged the gauge full lean as expected. Wrapped the sensor in a rag doused with gasoline and it pegged at full rich and remained there as expected. They say if it’s “bad” then the gauge will go full rich for a short period then peg full lean again while in the gas soaked rag because it “stops reading”. The other thing I did was hook it up to my garden tractor quickly and placed the sensor near the exhaust stream and it read around 13.5 afr so it appears to work but I haven’t a clue since I have nothing to compare it to.

AEM insists it’s a “wiring issue, probably a bad ground”. I already ordered a new Innovate so i’m not going to bother putting this back in or mess with it any further. The one plus to this unit is the low cost of the wideband sensors. They can be had new from Advance for around $40 which includes a 1 year warranty, it’s a simple Bosch 17018 sensor.
