Appliance transport

I have decided to restart my used appliance business but this time without a partner (Dont do business with a partner. It never works out). In the past, there was two of us, making it easy to load and unload the appliances into my truck. Obviously now I have to do this on my own.

The idea that I came up with is to build a dolly system. I would set the fridge on it’s side atop of a dolly with a wheel on each corner. Then just push it up onto my truck using 4-wheeler ramps.

The dolly is just 4 simple 2x4’s with a shopping cart wheel on each corner.

Anyone have any better ideas on how to load/unload this stuff on my own?

Eventually I will buy a lift gate for my truck, but not before I am certain that I can run this business on my own.

buy/build a ramp to just push/pull the stuff up onto the truck with in the mean while?

I thought transporting refrigerators on their sides was a bad thing to do.

ya just gotta have them standing upright x amount of time before you turn them on.

I keep them on their side but on an angle. Put something in the top end to prop it up so the oil stays in the bottom. Them just wait a few hours to turn on after youve stood it upright

Sounds like you need a partner. Whats a fridge worth after its dented to hell from self loading. lol

why not just get a truck with some ATV Ramps…

or better yet, lease/buy a old uhaul truck with the loading ramp…

Or a small low trailer, like a landscaper kind of uses, tow it around and the incline is very easy to walk up with anything on wheels.

Why not pay someone hourly and not have a “partner”

how legit is this business? are you just like hustling refrigerators that you pick up off the side of the road?

lol

Lol.

Business partners aren’t a problem. Just dont go into business with a friend or family member. Haha. Also, why not just run a business and hire someone part time to help you load and unload stuff. If it is legit, some people may not appreciate you showing up hauling a fridge through their doorway on your own and destroying their hall way on the way in.

It takes about 2 hours to load the appliances and deliver. Hard to find someone who is available and willing to work for 2 hours at a time.

It’s legit. Did it with a partner for about 2 years. We split, and about 2 years later ive decided to re-start the business on my own. We netted about 10k each in the 2nd year after paying about 33% to NYS. Its a side job with full time potential. Ask misteroman$$$. He’s bought quite a few freezers for his pizzeria. And no, I get them from Maryland and some times people call me when they have something to sell.

Too many problems with brining the stuff into the home. The appliances are left with the new owners to bring inside.
