Go to www.logiccomputerhouse.com and get an aftermarket HDD. I did the same for my Dell.
They carry the laptop, so they should be able to carry any and all HDDs for that Compaq. Not sure how far west you are, but the location in Sauga is at Dundas/Dixie area.

just hit up tigerdirect.ca and grab a standard 2.5" drive. It will fit the Compaq no problem.

So far the best I can find is a 40gig HD w/ 1 year warrenty for $79.
