So what are the best ways to exploit society and save money while being a student?

I know there are many places that offer student discounts, I’ve found a couple such as:

I’m not certain of the validity of them. The discount card costs 20 bucks/year
The second link shows some decent discounts on software, etc.
What else is out there?
Anything tried and true?
