Black Friday 2010

HP Business support is actually pretty good. We use one of their products and whenever help is needed, they answer super fast. I am sure that it’s worlds different than their personal support.

For a laptop, I would recommend a Lenovo ThinkPad. IBM sold the thinkpad line to a chinese company called lenovo, but the machines are still good. I love mine, I use it for 8+ hours a day, un-dock and take it home every night. Never had a single issue with it. I had a co-worker drop his out of his backpack from ~4ft. Broke the hinge on the screen, but the laptop still functioned, screen was even still good. These things are made for abuse, highly recommended.

Fucking Dell is a piece of shit these days. I bought a netbook from them, battery was toast after 4 months, wouldn’t even turn on with the battery plugged in. Fiance has a Dell lattitude for work and it’s horrible on battery life.

Cheap notebooks are pieces of shit.

If you plan on getting one, make sure it has a warranty that isn’t a joke.

Also with the netbooks…Watch for Windows 7 Starter…It is incredibly limited and if possible spring for at least the home versions.

I doubt that any 5-600 laptop will last much more than 2-3 years with regular use and moving around a bit.

I have managed to get through 5+ years now with my Compaq laptop and it was a pretty average laptop when I bought it new. Only issue I had was my hard drive went on me a couple years ago so I had to replace that. On the other hand my fiancee bought one identical to mine at the same time and hers was awful. But then again I think I took just overall better care of it so that helped it go a long way. I pretty much just use my laptop for internet now as opposed to word processing and other stuff when I was in college. For $500 I think I should be able to get another 5 years out of whatever I end up getting.

Well looks like I’ll be heading to Best Buy unless OfficeMax releases something better. I’m still having a hard time choosing between the HP and Toshiba in this case:

I have a printer already that works fine and have contacted Canon to see if it will be compatible with Windows 7. If not, then I’ll definitely go with the Toshiba just so I can get the printer too. I don’t know shit about processors really. So if anyone can chime in on whether a Core i3 would be better than an AMD Turion II Dual Core that would be appreciated. Other than that, I’m not crazy about the mousepads on each, but that’s just me being overly picky. I’ll get used to them either way, and I have a USB mouse that I can use as well.

Core anything is > a shitty turion.

is it worth doing? if im only going to save like 50bucks or something its really not worth it for me to stand in some shitty line with a bunch of weird middle aged people.
i need to get a tv, that’s like 32" + , lcd/plasma… whatever idc

im waiting for the sony google tv blu-ray player, its $100 off on black friday

I wanna get a HD Camcorder that is sweet.

OfficeMax finally popped up:

So now it’s got me considering their Acer Aspire. I’m gonna go with one of these below. Open to input from anyone.

Core i5 is better than the Core i3

Thanks, yeah I knew that. I’ve just heard questionable things of Acer in the past. But I don’t know if things have changed now and if they’re a much more reputable brand name. If it were Toshiba or HP with the Core i5 then it would be a no brainer. Maybe it still is no brainer and I should take the Acer but I guess that’s what I’m trying to get a feel for now. I think I’m going to make a new thread with a poll in the Nerd section.

I’ve been looking for deals on a PS3, I know numerous places will have it bundled with a game or two for 299.99. Only thing is I don’t want to waste time waiting in line if these stores only have 5 of them to begin with. Anyone else looking for a PS3? I think walmart seems to have the best deal, comes with uncharted 2…

Here is the best site I’ve found for Black Friday. The ads are actually scanned on there also if you click on the tab.

Droid incredible is only a dollar awsome! at bb

^ with a two year contract =/

Anyone see any real good deals yet for TVs, best I have seen is the Westinghouse at Targer for $298. I dont really wanna to spend more than $400 so if anyone has seen anything, share some knowledge!

Best sub $400 TV this year is going to be the 42" Zenith at Sears for $399.99 (org price $549.99)…It has all LG internal parts with “Zenith” written on the front.
Or spend another $100 and get the 46" Viera.

Ahh, Zenith. Throwback to when America still made electronic shit.

lol, yes but wanting above 40" flat screen under $400 your not going to buying a new samsung/sony/panasonic. What do they say, champagne taste on a beer budget…or something like that.
You will be dealing with Westinghouse/Dynex or some other low ends, at least the Zenith has decent internals.
