Today on the Autobahn I saw a bmw Alpina B5…looked like a real nice bmw but I had never seen or heard of one before.
Is it similar to the M series? And if not what is the difference
While M is a tuning department at BMW, Alpina isn’t a division of BMW at all, they’re a private tuning company. It’s kind of like what Saleen and Shelby have done with Mustangs, etc., or like RUF does with Porsches.
Wikipedia says the B5 is a 4.4L supercharged V8. They are absolutely awesome cars, and are typically more collectible and better performing than equivalent M cars.

My friend saw one down in Houston, called me up wondering what the hell it was, theyre pretty rare but definitely awesome. Alpina puts out some good stuff
