BMW to abandon high-revving engines in M cars; X6 first 'M' to get turbo

thats m5/6 territory, no way m3’s will hit 600(stock)

M5 will be a TTV8, M3 will be a TTI6

This had been a long time coming with the new EU emissions requirements. BMW Motorsport originally started out playing with Turbo cars as well… A few examples:

Nothing famous there

I’m on the keeping the M turboless side. There is nothing like good throttle response.

im with these guys but i dont care about fake racing on a track.

how much lag does a 335 have?

Brian

Of course, The SL65 AMG was never to be intended to be a M3 competitor… 500+ is the M5/6 Range…

I also didn’t realize the SL65 AMG Black edition was… 670hp :-X

UGh the new SL’s Front end is SEX

then what would become of the 335?

still would be a 335, the M cars are more than a motor… :eekdance:

well yeah, but m buyers wouldn’t want a cheaper car to have the same motor, ya know?

That hurts. I enjoy turning just as much as anyone…

e36 M3… e36 325i…
e46 m3… e85/e86 z4 m coupe
e30 m3… e30 M Sport
e39 m5… e46 M3 GTR street
e9 3.5CSL… m1

I’m sure I could think of a few more…

more added

I mean, a NON M car.

and the 325i and m3 didnt have the same motor… one was a 3 ltr and the other 2.5.

Exact same engine other than displacement and cams (actually the '92 325i non vanos has a better valve train and a better intake manifold). You can’t honestly think they wont throw a couple tricks at the 335i motor if it finds it’s way into the M3?

well yeah obviously,
I bet they will increase disp. and possibly a larger turbo…

M is for marketing

I’d be happy with a 3.8L I6 TT

edit: No I wouldn’t this sucks.

It would def make good Power and be much easier to modify, but IDK that just wouldn’t be right some how, IDK this does suck HaHa

“Set to appear next June, the X6 xDrive M will be the first model to run BMW M’s new twin-turbocharged V8. This engine is also earmarked for the next-generation M5, due out in late 2010.”

Its still a V8 guys…I think it would still have some response…followed by insanity, its not like a turbo 4 cylinder that goes from no power to super power when in boost. Its BMW, I don’t think they would be satisfied with building a top end only car…

Its a V8 with Twin Turbos… that’s pretty cool in my book.

If forced induction is the way around the new government standards…then I guess were all stuck with all those whines and blow offs.
