Brembo branded helmet with revolutionary "Automatic Fit Belt" system

While they don’t actually build the helmet from scratch, but rather licensing helmet design and component from an Italian boutique helmet manufacturer “New Max”. With this new helmet, Brembo and New Max jointly filed a revolutionary automatic helmet strap system patent developed by Sabelt.

It is not something geared towards racing, but more for casual riding.

Press Release:

11 November 2009 - EICMA. Brembo and Newmax today present the new helmets for motorcyclists and scooter riders with the Brembo brand, developed in cooperation by two companies.

Brembo helmets are designed to enhance safety, comfort and design and present innovations for the target market, above all in the new types of Automatic Fit Belt fastening of the helmet and the form of the visors.

They were developed mainly for the urban use since the city is where over 70% of accidents involving motorcycles happen in Europe (in Italy over 85%).The helmets, produced and marketed on license from Newmax, are of two types: full face and jet. They will be on sale starting from February 2010 in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Britain, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Romania, the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Cyprus and Japan.

Two wheels to travel, a single button to do it safely

The idea of the new Automatic Fit Belt fastening stemmed from the observation that many motorcyclists and scooter riders put on and take off their helmets many times a day for short urban journeys, often failing to fasten them correctly, or even leaving them unfastened.
To facilitate this extremely important safety operation, Brembo helmets have a continuous strap that ends in a winding device: in this way the motorcyclists simply press a single button and will be able to make the strap adhere perfectly to the chinrest, which blocks automatically in the correct position for measurement and tension, offering perfect safety and comfort.
The strap is wider than those existing on the market, 3 cm, and is in silky skin-friendly material, for greater comfort.
The new Automatic Fit Belt fastening, with the patent deposited by Brembo and Newmax, was developed by Sabelt – a firm in the Brembo Group - world leader in the design and production of seatbelts, seats and technical apparel for racing.

The visor: less claustrophobic, better visibility

The profile of the full face helmet is designed with a visor, named extra space, asymmetrical in relation to the curve of the shell. The function of this new design is above all to minimize the feeling of claustrophobia that many motorcyclists complain of when wearing the present full face helmets, and appreciably increase the rider’s visual field, a very important factor in road safety.
In this way Brembo helmets can boost the use of full face helmets in urban traffic.

Reflector profiles

All the Brembo helmets will have on the rear reflector elements to improve the visibility and therefore the safety of the motorcyclist at night.

The two BREMBO models

B-tech – full face urban model

B-tech is the first and sole full face urban helmet at present on the market, with the widest field of vision. This has been attained thanks to the study of a special profile, conceived to guarantee optimal panoramic vision, and the special extra space visor, designed to supplement the design of the shell.
B-tech is equipped with the retractable Automatic Fit Belt system.
Weight of the helmet: 1.350 kg

B-jet - demi jet model
B-jet It is a jet helmet with a “light and open” styling, stemming from the special design and slant of the dynamic lines of the shell. The technological and light design of this helmet is dedicated to the urban bikers who are already travelling today on the roads of tomorrow.
B-jet is equipped with the retractable Automatic Fit Belt system.
Weight of the helmet: 1.050 kg

The two models have a “signature” unique of its kind: experts will recognize in the original mechanism of rotation of the visor an elegant allusion to Brembo brake units.

For both models:
Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL
The visor is in polycarbonate, thickness 2 mm, with high optical quality, with anti-scratch treatment.
Shell in technopolymers

Go SpeedRacer, Go SpeedRacer, Go SpeedRacer GO!

I could see it being useful in a big European city, but most of us can’t relate here.

Smart idea however.

Any estimate on the cost? Most people don’t believe into spending good money on gear, or especially big money for a helmet, when there is a $50 option around the corner for “the same helmet”

Biggest problem is the people who don’t care about their safety enough not to strap the original helmet strap, won’t care for spending more money or even doing it when it’s a button away. I seriously wonder how the sales do.
