yum. i love those cars. i think they have a pretty big cult following. i’ve seen a lot of these cars set up for road racing, auto x, and rally. i think its the japanese counterpart of the BMW 2002. 4cyl carbed, rwd. there’s a couple of them with sr20det swaps.

That version of the 510 was never sold in the USA. You’ll notice the fastback rear window versus the square and upright rear window on the cars we got here.
The 510 dominated SCCA club racing when it was first introduced. The legendary BRE team won quite a few national championships with them in the early 70s. They were also raced heavily in the Trans Am 2.5 liter Challenge series with good success. I was looking to buy one for vintage racing but their value has skyrocketed lately as most of the good cars are being bought up by people in the know.
I’ll bet that one goes for quite a bit of money.
