I have evaded once. There was no reckless speeding involved to elude, just quick thinking. I was on my way home late one night and was going 55 in a 35. Went by a cop who was traveling in the opposite direction. I saw him slam the brakes so I knew he was coming. Where I was there was a very sharp corner followed by a couple of different side roads on both sides. The first road went up a short steep hill. I had a very small amount of time to make a decision because if the cop came around that corner as I was turning down any of the streets, I was done. So, I did the thing anyone would do while trying to hide at night. I turned the lights off and drove up the steep hill road, just as I crested the top I saw him come flying around the corner, lights and all. I crept over the top of the hill, never using my brake lights and watched him go flying by. As soon as he was out of sight, I went back in the direction I came and took a new route home.
