Coreys s2000 build

Got quite a bit done between jobs the past 2 days… coming together awesome

Still gotta get some expandable foam for the cracks, and really get to sanding this is all very rough sanded to get an idea of where its going to be/shape… still need to form the passenger side as well, thinking just mirroring the drivers side…

its going to lay back that far into dash?

Yes it was a battle between angle and depth, angle won

It will all be installed in the car effort it’s glasses to make sure I can deal with it and it looks right, if not, chop, cut, rebuild

yea looks real far in like you would have to lean in very far to use it

i would make sure you can easily remove it without any tools or special techniques

Good points… The s2000 interior is really small so this position may work, like I said I’ll be testing it before anything is glassed, and it will be on an actuator and able to push a button and then just slide it out the side

that’d be dope…

For the sake of sagrits, how’s your old lady gonna play Angry Birds on that when part of the dash is in the way?

Bring it forward another 4" or so and make it a nice smooth transition to the iPad. Or just keep going and do a glass console that flows into the dash since you went that far with the dash. Rework the secret compartment and do that glass.

this is some nopi 2001 shit

Lmao, it’s not staying that way on her side Jim! Just wanted to get an sea of where it’s sitting first, gonna mess with it tomorrow some… Problem with moving it forward is its either going to be way angled down or it will stick up out of the dash and be molded around, which I DO NOT want, gonna see what I can do with it tho

Thanks

Not even close.

I like how this car and mine are total opposites, but I can still respect your work.

You may want to check the angle of that iPad too, sunlight coming in through the windshield might create a nasty glare off the glass face. I’d say vertically mount it as best you can or make a hood to shade it from sunlight. Not to mention if it’s on at night you may get a reflection off the windshield from the iPad too.

Thanks Travis, and yes Jim, a good may be added at a later point if the sun is an issue, I just tore out all the foam on the driver side and am redoing it lmao

Yeah sun glare is going to be a bitch

I still don’t understand the thought process that went into putting an iPad that deep into a dash and saying “I think it’ll look good like that”

Fiberglass is usually to create a flowing and seamless transition between compound curves. Im having a hard time really understanding your direction.

The right side of the iPad “cavity” is a flat wall at 90deg to the dash. The left side is on top of the dash pad…is there going to be a “step” there?

It’s set back so far it’s essentially not viewable.

I can think of 1207 different ways to do this that would be either cleaner or more useful.

I like your work ethic. I’m interested to see the final outcome, I hope I eat my words and this turns out awesome.

More pics please…that may help.

^he said above he still needs to form the passenger side.
