Coreys s2000 build

Okay, figure I outta make a thread, so I am just going to take my pictures and updates from the s2000 forum and post them up here!

I went in search of exactly the car I wanted… Left deposits on 3 different s2000s that were sold from under me… which really voids the purpose of a deposit… I was looking for something 2002 and up (no plastic window) for around 13-17K with below 40K miles… I FINALLY found my gem… 2002 Spa Yellow with 36k miles for 14K… I know the price seemed a bit steep but this thing was in showroom condition, so I wasted no time with a deposit this time. I live in Saratoga (45 minutes north of Albany, NY) and this car was in SAINT LOUIS MISSOURI!! So, I called the dealership, I said “Explain to me exactly the condition of this car” To which my salesmen said, “Well, I just had a couple interested in a brand new TSX ask me when Honda released a new convertible, to which I said 2002, they were shocked this was not a brand new car”. This conversation happened on a Saturday, my reply was “Cool, it is sold, I will be there Tuesday to pick it up do you want a deposit?”. Shocked, he said well yes and thank you for possibly the easiest sale I have ever made… I put down my deposit got my plane tickets and prepped for the long day and a half of flying and driving… Flew to DC where I waited 3 hours in a lay over giddy as a school girl telling everyone who was around me my purpose that day! Got to the dealership, and fell in LOVE at first site with this car… Signed the paperwork, payed the man, and before I knew it was on a 19 hour drive home. Top down the entire way! I was so happy with the car I continued to drive it when I finally arrived home taking it to my favorite roads to get used to it  Then the modding started haha…

Then we leave Wednesday morning at 5am to be at Evans by 10 for the tune!! GOD its so close I can taste it!

WEll, havent updated in awhile… got all my birthday presents installed except the exhaust cap cuz apparently heel toe is coming out with a Gen. 2 exhaust cap that supposedly fits better so I am waiting… the footwells also arent done cuz Joey hasnt supplied a DIY yet… waiting on that… BUT my downforce +30mm fenders arrived from Evasive Motorsports yesterday and I had to test fit them  All I can say is WOW… a little drilled had to be done on the holes cuz they were VERY slightly off… but overall awesome fitting fenders!

One run I had…
October 21st
Okay, the car has some very bad front tires so it is up for the season, so I figured time to get cracking! About 8 hours into the project have every accessory from the engine bay removed, both wiring harnesses ran through there respective sides from inside the car to the fender area, coolant, fuel, and vacuum lines all removed engine ready to be pulled, all spot welded brackets drilled out and removed, fuse box, ditribution block and inline fuse for the battery are all installed, EPS is in the wiper cowl, ordering a rywire mil-spec harness soon, ABS and cruise will be retained and located in the drivers fender, heater hoses are going in the wiper cowl as soon as the motor is out, this is going to be a VERY long process but figured people might be interested to see how it goes down!

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/4606/wiretuck1.jpg

http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/141/wiretuck2.jpg
How my fusebox, distro block, and inline fuse are mounted, notice I used the stock grommet with a new hole to run the harness out of! and the fusebox is positioned so that I can just remove the wheel well to change a fuse if I REALLY need to ( but how often does that happen!)also you can see the hole drilled for running the EPS wires into the cowl (still need to buy a grommet for this hole it WILL NOT be left bare!

http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/9496/wiretuck3.jpg
Driver side showing the relocated harness, and the use of the stock grommets again, the upper goes to the wiper motor and to the one wire that plugs into the bottom of the fuse block that holds the EPS fuse, and you can also see the cruise controls new home! That little black wire is the only wire on the driver side that needs to be extended to do this!

http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/6158/wiretuck7.jpg
This is the entire harness for the secondary air pump (which of course has been deleted and this wiring is staying out)

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/7126/wiretuck8.jpg
This shows the one connector that needs to be depinned to remove this harness!

http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/2091/wiretuck4.jpg
This is the connector that wire USED to go into, basically it supplies power to both the secondary air and EPS, so removing this connector and box wasnt going to happen, just de pin the one wire and you still have EPS power!

http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/3977/wiretuck5.jpg
EPS in its new home, not bolted down yet cuz I want to see how well this is going to fit with the new heater hoses first (and yes, all those wires need to be extended, not a huge deal IMO

As she sits!
October 24th
forgot a few updates!

YESTERDAY AM

Im relocating EVERYTHING lol, no option of to the side

WELL, awesome weekend, my sister and her fiance got married and I was the best man! Had a blast, but unfortunately had to neglect the S for a few days, but I came home this morning on about 5 hours of sleep extremely hung over and got to work! Motor is on the ground I just have to go grabe the engine crane to lift the front of the car high enough to slide it out! And also have mounted mocked a few other things!

Enough of my blabber, on to the pics!

http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/5433/wiretuck12.jpg

http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/2072/wiretuck13.jpg
ABS Mounted in its new home! Just gotta get some loom and tape to finish my harness and the driver side will be DONE minus brake lines and throttle cable for the cruise!

http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/5571/wiretuck11.jpg
EPS box and heater control valve mocked in place, I am going to come up with some way to make it all look cleaner, but for now it will work!

http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/9863/wiretuck10.jpg
Motor down, ready to be carted away!

YESTERDAY PM

Today I had to swap a K motor in an Accord I bought so it was a hectic day! BUUUUUUUUUUT The s2000 is now motor/trannyless  Everything is out of the bay and I got some VERY rough cut (no measuring, no taping, just eyeballing and cutting!) cardboard forms to start really working on the templates for the sheet metal I am going to have cut and welded in! I am really excited about how this thing is progressing thus far!

TODAY!
Okay, spent a TON of time on this one, removed my seats, steering column, gauge cluster, air bag, and dash JUST to tuck my heater control valve and lines lol what a pain! but its an all in the spirit of customization

To date this is easily the most time consuming/labro intensive part…

On to the pics!

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/5984/001lxl.jpg
Apparently I was drunk when I took this picture of my interior lol

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/4164/002mhp.jpg
Where my interior now resides! (I need to spend a day recleaning my garage, all the tools and parts ive used/dont need anymore liing around are driving me insane!)

http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/6316/003zp.jpg
Heater core modified, anyone who has ever seen one knows the wo hoses consist of 2 90 degree bends a peice, basically I just cut off one of the 90s for each line and loosened the crimp on the bottom to turn them both upward to go into the cowl rather than the engine bay

http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/7783/005lqu.jpg
where the heater control valve will be located, all holes were drilled out to allow these new locations and stock grommets were used for a clean look!

http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/5708/006mm.jpg
Close up of how things come out now!

Thanks to everyone who has been checking things out and posting positive comments, this thread will be continuing until I am finished so keep checking back in!

few more updates…

10/25

Boring update today, just got the grinder out and hit a bunch of seam sealer, and started in on removing the front crossmemeber, most of my day was spent at school and the little time I worked on the S was simply to tear down the motor for powdercoating! here are pics from today!

Today:

Thanks for the info!

Got my head studs today, quality is topnotch, no surprise there! Little confused about how you have to drill the head bolt holes a bit bigger? But Mike Laskey has my head so I am going to call him tomorrow and just see if he can do that for me!

AND FINALLY got my welder back today, got all the random holes on the inner frame rails and the holes where the cross member used to be welded shut, along with the radiator stay holes, and got two of my filler plates cut and welded in! take a long time! But its coming along

http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/4021/016tr.jpg

So far, a ton of hours have gone into this thing, but I am loving it, used a whole 1 pound spool of wire today!

November 4th
Well, todays update should be a lot bigger than it is BUT, on my way to buy my last sheet of sheetmetal to finish my filler panels… my civic blew its motor! LMAO so, I now own a 2003 Honda Accord EX which isnt the worst thing in world, but certainly an unexpected expense, CHECK YOUR OIL BOYS! I have always picked on the people who allow this to happen, and now I am one of them… live and learn, ANY

Back passenger filler smoothed into the inner frame rail…

This one actually shows the nearly completed shock tower, for those that never noticed there are 2 weird like 1 inch humps on both shock towers, you can see I welded up and smoothed the left one and the right one I left just ground down so you guys could see they are just hollow lumps for apparently no reason other than I am imagining making the sheetmetal easier to shape from the factory, and you can see my passenger inner frame rail fully smoothed out!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND got all the fillers at least tacked, ran out of wire or would have finished all the welding tonight! Time to purchase a die grinder and a dremel for the tricky spots and get to grinding things perfect!

Didnt get much of anything done today as I still need to go get a compressor and die grinder, had to do some work on a Saab 9-3 for a friend and was so annoyed with the garage I had to clean it again, also got some srubbing done on the block!

Got the car outside for the first time in awhile today and snapped some shots of the bay, then brought it in and loosely fit all my body panels for the 2012 makeover

Preview of the 2012 Look!

Well, COD is really slowing things down lol. but I bought a 17 gallon air tank to add to my compressor setup to run the die grinder, should be here within the week, Mike Laskey is putting in work on my head and Chase has my harness… in the mean time I cut into my prestine body panels to make room for some 285s

Pictures of the progress, just need to re weld the seam and primer!

http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/8087/006sqh.jpg
Outer skin cut and removed, slits cut in inner skin to bend up to create new outer seam

http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/4570/008mkd.jpg
Unfortunately I forgot to grab a shot of the tabs all bent up, but the idea is cut all the slits then bend the metal up to the new edge to create the new lip, then cut the excess of the flaps off

Close up of the folder up flaps, weld these together and you have a new seam! Still gotta go grab wire to finish but its almost there!

Car looks really good man. Quality build right there. Keep it up.

And thats where we are as of now! Lots more updates coming, any questions, comments, concerns are welcome!

Thanks man! You posted before I updated a lot more stuff though! haha

Well if it isn’t Corey Maurer… Welcome bro! Car looks sick

Thanks buddy! Just saw the pics of the truck last night, lookin mean!

Very nice! Quality build. My only gripe is the chasebays product, kid is a loser and a scammer. Other than that, very high quality build. And you’re tumed by evans so it wont blow up right away!

Car came out awesome

what the hell

great build man, lots of hard work and time into that car

Honestly, my first choice was rywire, but I called them 3 different times and EVERY time the guy on the phone was an asshole, didnt want to answer any questions, didnt want to work with me on ANY aspect of the harness, I wont be doing business with a company like that, so I called Chase, they were amazingly helpful and agreed to a couple small custom things I needed without any hassle, they have been nothing but great to me so far!

well, it has come out aswesome YET, it is coming along tho

I hope this is positive lol, not sure how to take it

Sure is man, loving it so far though!

Lots of work, nice!

Thanks man, I recognize that car from a few of the drift events (I think, I am not very good with the Nissans!) I have come down to LVD with Nick with the Blue 350z on the Green rotas a few times
