Crx Question

Hey all… Im going to be picking up a 91 CRX Si for a Daily Driver… Im not to knowledgable about imports at all, all ive ever had was domestic v8’s… Is there anything that i sould look for in it?? Its super clean, with the normal cancer spots on it… sunroof does not, not a real big deal, no ticks in the motor, clutch feels good, not smoke at start up, or under hard accel. it has 117,000…what do you think???

Sounds like you got the basics covered.

I always listen for distributor noise, throw out bearing noise, look at the upper strut/control arm part of the unibody for rust. I’ve had 2 so far that rusted clean through.

how much did you buy it for? I sold mine (86) w/ 150000 miles for $500…

500 bucks… 91 with 115000 on it… ill check out the strut part…

88-91 will always be more because of the swap options

Shoulda kept the mustang and made it a daily :moon:

yea right… a daily what??? a daily fixxer??? i just want something that will get 25+ mpg for driving to and from work… then if i have some spare money ill boost it just to be a dick…

I’m just mad you had two cars taht were faster than me, and both were fords :spank:

i dirve mine every day 88 crx si

any known problems with them??? all i do is get on 79>>drive 20 miles, park it, then after work get back on 79 drive 20 miles… park it… there is a slight shimmy in the wheel, i think the front tires need balanced, or maybe an alignment…

i think that your v8 truck might have taken the stang… it would do 140-150, but believe me, it didnt get there fast… The Lightning on the other hand… thats a different story

find out when the timing belt and water pump were changed last. and change them if need be.(honda recomends every 90k.)

u’ll get mad gas mileage. i bought my civic si w/ a blown motor (same motor as your crx si). i put a used motor in it w/ 75k miles, new waterpump and timing belt. i didnt even change sparkplugs or anything else. i get 300 miles to 9 gallons, tank is 11 gallons. i allways fill up at 300 miles. and i beat the piss/toss the hell out of the car on the back roads.

not as fast as my old daily driver in straight line, but im not spending money into it either, and have no real urge to mod it, which means i save money numerous ways as i wanted to hop up my old daily driver (hence why i sold it), and the honda is reliable that i just add gas and change oil every few months, lol.

glad to hear it… im getting it in like a week and a half…

i replaced the wheel bearings and axels at 155,000 and that was pretty much it…

water belt and timing evrey 90 is a good rule of thumb

if not already said check for rust, i know tehm crxs turn into rust buckets often.
