well, i purchased a set of bbs rm’s from awdrifter last night for a smoking deal, but unfortunately with all smokin deals theres a reason. they were all bent and 2 of them severly bent. He mentioned this and i was ok with it and this is why.
first step is to mount the damaged wheel on the car and then make a mark on your strut with a white marker like so.
and then it looks like this.
now as you can see in the pick i rotate the wheel and make arrows in or out for high/low spots on the wheel.
now for the fun part.:carnut your gunna need a block of wood and a bottle jack. 99% of the time wheels are damaged with flat spots from potholes from lovely buffalo roads. these need to be jacked out and the wheel will wanna retake its previous shape of a perfect circle.
you will need to jack it out farther then needed because you need to rebend it out and when you release the jack it will rebound some. so repeat over and over until you get your desired results.
DO NOT OVER JACK!!!. lol, i dont wanna hear you cracked your wheel becuase you jacked your wheel out too much. use common sense, the jack will become difficult to jack long before you will crack the wheel.
Other tools as needed for additional massaging are lead hammer and a weighted plastic hammer. these will be needed for some high spots and the lips.
Some pointers…
using the lip is only a guideline to getting a ball park. you will need to attach a pointer stick or whatever you have laying around to the inner fender well and let it rest or just barely touch the rim where the bead seals. then rotate the wheel and check for straightness by watching the stick go up or down as it rides the rims bead.
with 2 minor bends and 2 major bends i managed to get all 4 straight again with only 1hr of work. Not bad if you ask me.
now i have a spare set of bbs rm’s for the e30.
