For those who doubted........

For those who made fun of me ALL weekend… HERE IS THE PROOF!!!

Rivers That Flow North
(actually downhill) in a northerly direction

FACTS:

Unless the land it totally flat, rivers of water run downhill. The vast percentage of rivers on the planet flow in a southerly direction because the source (usually in the mountains) is to the north of the mouth.

If the source of a river is at a higher elevation than the mouth, that river will run from the source to the mouth. However, if that (higher) source is to the south of the mouth, that river will then flow to the north (downhill).

Below is a partial list of rivers (length listed when known) that do just that. We haven’t listed rivers that run to the northwest, or rivers that don’t meet the exact requirements.

Here is the reference: Rivers That Flow North - WorldAtlas

(I couldn’t find any proof that the flow changes, but the Monogahela DOES in fact flow north for 128 miles)

Ha ha… get back to WORK JENN…

wtf is this about? Did someone say that rivers only flow north to south??

Hell, the Nile, the longest in the worls flowa south to north

Hell, I live on the Mon, I could have told ya that…everyone knows that

OMG you guys didn’t know that!!! wtf

No no, there is a BIG story behind it… I’m sure someone will tell you…

:gives:

I don’t want to hear Jenn talking about flow…

:puke:

:blah: then don’t read it.

i was just kidding…

but who doesn’t know that the Mon flows north?!? How else would the Ohio river exist??

x2

I said there was a mother fucking story behind it… forget it now…

no no no see that makes sense. the way the story originally goes is she stated that one of the rivers change direction in the middle of the day and start flowing the opposite direction and it had somthing to do with the tides. and there was only two in the world according to her teacher.

I explained if thats what her teacher said he should be fired because the water can;t flow back up over the damns that cover all three rivers. Then whitey suggested maybe it was a mass concentrtation of salmon swimming up stream all at once and when they jump the damns that what gives it its helping motion.

She never said the Mon and from us talking and tracing the general paths the only one me and whitey could think of was the Yough. we sort of forgot it flows noth till Rakin then dips once and finishes to the west at the point.

IN anycase that is what started it.

you guys should know your watersheds :nono:

I know… I’ve lived in Pittsburgh for 9 years and didn’t know the monongahela flowed north… :hsdance:

Shows how much I payed attention in geography class.

I guess you missed the whole funny and what were were making fun about with the change in the middle of the day driectional flow.

Thats what started the whole convo.
