I am selling my 1989 Ford Crown Vic the car has almost 50,000 original miles and there is nothing wrong with the car. Comfortable to drive and a good winter beater. It has a new exhaust on it professionally installed. the only thing they may cause concern is a clunking sound you hear when you start the car. I had this checked out and the mechanic said that it oil on the crank shaft and that this is common on older V8s. New Brakes, Struts and shocks. Interior looks like it just rolled off the show room floor its dirt now but im getting the car detailed this weekend. the bad… last year at HVCC someone backed into the driver side door and dented it, it did not effect the door at all still opens and closes fine, the passenger door has another dent in it from someone opening there door into it again not effected. this one is an easy fix at a body shop because its a balled dent and can be pulled out. these are the only problems that i know of but i have owned it since i was 16 and i have not seen a problem great car for a winter beater or a DD.

i dont make sense of that. oil on the crankshaft, makes a clunking noise, sounds mechanical to me. and your mechanic may very well be retarded.

Wrong 5.0 (non HO) and no way would I pay $2k for a stock motor anyway. I can get a stroker shortblock for that price.

these motors out of this year-range cars are known for a rod / main bearing TSB due to premature failure and a knocking sound…
