I’m selling my 1999 Audi A6 2.8 Quattro because I just recently purchased a 2000 S4. I’d like to rid myself of this car fairly quickly, so I am asking $6500, which is far below BB “fair” value. The car runs great; there is only one issue with the HVAC (details below), and the rest are aesthetic issues. I am open to offers, but please no low ballers.
I will provide recent carfax for free.
Mileage: 102XXX (I’m still driving it)
Transmission: Tiptronic
Black exterior/black interior with wood trim
16 inch “champagne glass” rims w/ all season rubber
Pros:
Timing belt, water pump - all replaced recently
2.8 30V V6 is one of Audis most reliable engines
Front AND rear heated seats
Transmission fluid was flushed and replaced recently
Cold weather package (heated seats (F&R), ski sack)
Warm weather package (solar panel in sunroof, automatic rear sunshade)
Leather interior is in good shape (for a 9 year old car)
Oil recently changed with Mobil 1 0W-40
Convenience package (homelink transmitter, memory seats & mirrors, autodimming mirrors)
Bose Premium Sound w/ 6 disc changer (trunk)
Cons:
HVAC is quirky - the heat will kick in when it is colder than 40 degrees outside. Once the temp rises above that, it shuts off. So in the winter, I haven’t really had a problem because it’s usually colder than 40 degrees. In the summer, the AC will work sometimes, regardless of temperature, and sometimes it won’t. Not sure why this is happening. I’ve replaced the blower resistor, and that didn’t seem to help.
Headlights don’t match - this car was in an accident (more about that below) before I owned it, and the body shop that repaired it ordered a non-xenon headlight to replace the busted one. So there is one xenon, and one halogen headlight.
The dye in the auto dimming mirrors has gone bad, causing discoloration. One mirror is a dark purplish shade, while the other is yellowish.
According to Carfax, this car was involved in two prior accidents, one being rather major (Carfax states that car crashed into a utility pole. Jason Dale (Owner, Black Forest Motorsport 716-634-1200) has been underneath the car and he can attest that considering this, they did a pretty good job of fixing it up properly. But I want to be upfront and honest about the incident. The other accident was not really detailed on the carfax report, it just said that there was “damage to the left center pillar”.
I don’t think the heated steering wheel works anymore.
Center cup holder doesn’t stay in the down position.
Exterior lower door trim panels are not perfect (a little warped).
Dash display sometimes has pixels missing - and sometimes doesn’t. Not much can be done about that…common on older Audis.
I have some of the service records, but nothing before a couple of years ago. This car was initially a Florida car, and then in the last few years was driven in NY. This is my daily driver - I drive to work on the 33 every morning and the same way back at night. 8 miles each way.
Please feel free to post or PM me with any questions/offers. I’ll try and get more pics soon.
