Visually its perfect, it tipped over when it was on my tripod and hit the ground, I had a UV filter on the lens so that got the worst of it (not sure if the threads are ok on the lens or not). The lens elements are still good, none are cracked. When it hit the ground the zoom was all the way out so it acted like a shock absorber and compressed. As a result, you can still use the zoom ring between 35mm and 70mm, but anything wider than 35mm you need to tug on the front of the lens. I think it stripped the zoom mechanism some what inside the lens, so it might need a trip back to Canon. I havent bothered to check with Canon to get a quote on how much to fix it yet, I doubt it will be much.
