Canon 24-70 f/2.8L lens *DAMAGED*

I bought this lens about 2 years ago brand new from B&H Photo-Video. Visually the lens is fine. About a week ago my camera was on my tripod with this lens attached to it, the tripod tipped over and the lens hit the ground first. I had a clear UV filter on the front of the lens, which is why there is no visible damage to the lens. When it hit the ground, the lens compressed (the zoom was extended) and acted like a shock absorber. As a result, I can use the zoom ring on the lens to zoom between 35mm and 70mm, but anything wider than 35mm and I have to physically pull on the front of the lens, as part of the zoom mechanism is stripped from taking the impact.

-The glass elements are still intact.
-No outer visible damage.
-Auto-focus still works.
-The front filter threads are NOT stripped, I checked by threading a filter on.
-Lens would need to be recalibrated as well as repaired.
-I currently have a request for an estimate on repair through a Canon Service Center.

New, this lens sells for $1349.00 at B&H: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/264304-USA/Canon_8014A002_Zoom_Wide_Angle_Telephoto_EF.html
