Fuji Speedway Again 11-03-2009

Up at Fuji earlier this week renewing the NS license. Few shots from in and around the paddock.

Looks like a good time like always.

Several karts were out practicing. Never knew they ran the shifter karts on the main F1 course.

Those look like superkarts to me, minus the usual wing they run (maybe due to the length of the straight). Super fast 120mph karts.

One guy said they range from 125-150CC. Mind boggling displacement for such a little machine.

Yeah, Superkarts range from 125 upto 250cc!

To put the speed of those things in perspective, the lap record at laguna seca is like a 1:22 for a Superkart the old ALMS GT1 Aston Martin DBR9’s lap record was a 1:21.012 (and the old V10 Toyota F1 car did a 1:06)

Later in the evening I met up with Miguel from Newera Imports. Decided to pull the 7 out for a short blast near Fuji mountain.

7 is a late model on a fresh rotary engine built by Knight Sports. Running a T04Z single. More of a grip car if anything. Even with ancient RE-01 tires it still grips like mad.

Anyhow, short vid here of the weapon. Miguel wasnt really pushing it. Temps were way cold on the freezing point.

Worst bov ever. Lol, I was totally not expecting the cars to be in the right lane, even after seeing it was rhd I was thinking what an asshole for pushing those cars over, then it clicked haha. It’s early…

That shuttering is coming off the waste gate, not BOV.

Oh man, he definitely had a close call in there!
