I did this in a sail boat two summers ago, but from Ontario to Erie. It’s pretty wild being inside a lock that big when you’re fending a 27ft sailboat way from the walls while the water flows.
It took about 22 hours to get from Wilson, NY to the Small Boat Harbor. It was a riot though.
Usually they are used for downpipe through the fender transition on the exterior. Also make a similar type through the firewall.
