I wonder how often he has to tighten up the ties. Also, I HIGHLY doubt those things move enough air to make it nearly as efficient as one large properly-sized fan.

I have one fan of that size and it moves more air than you would expect. 100 CFM to be exact. If I were to tie 20 of them together that is 2000 CFM, which i can only assume is way more than a standard automotive fan.
Persoanally I use it to circulate air in a fermentation chamber and keep my wort to a proper even temperature.

I use 2 5" fans like that for my theater cabinet. They do a damn good job.

I saw a bigger pic of that fan set-up. It looks like there are close to 40 of them- they go all the way down.
It appears to be wire tied in knots. lol.
