very true… here at work we gots P4 3.2ghz w/2gigs and a quatrofx 500 and it does make a world of difference over my home PC. When we start opening assemblys with 300+ parts you really notice a difference in the performance. I attribute that to the vid card though… I believe it’s an entry level card :\
^ I understand what your saying but trust me on this when I say that what I do this card should and even the program is way over kill. Most of my stuff is basic 2D simple top, front, side views. Basically I draw patterns for removable sound insulation panels. Simple flat top views with dims and some minor detail for location pins and sew marks. Hardest part of my job is doing development dwg’s were I take something like a square to round transition and doing a flat pattern for it, basicly sheet metal stuff. My .dwg files rarely ever get bigger than 2mg and most are under 1mg in size. The simple modeling that I do is more for me to see things when parts are put together.
I’m doing aircraft electronic assemblies; some with multiple thousands of electronic components. If I’m not doing that, then I’m dealing with multi-faceted surfacing on the exterior of the aircraft, or doing reflector optical surfacing. We use all the power of the machines and more.
