Interesting to see that they use the same large OD thin section bearings for the wheel bearings as they use on the WRC cars I’d bet money they’re ceramic like the WRC ones too, hence why they cost $1500 + each(two per wheel)

That’s part of a wheel heater. Note electrical cable. Squeeze the spring-loaded duckbill thing to remove/install the heater on the rim.

why would the wheel need to be heated?

I assume to get it up to race temp, as to set the air pressure precisely?
