Question for you domestic guys. I’m putting a new Holley TBI on my 87 suburban. Everything is installed okay, but when the gas pedal is not depressed at all, the flaps are still open a little bit (I’m having a brain fart, can’t think of what they are called). Anyways, this is a 2 barrel TBI, so im wondering is it normal for them to get stuck open like that? I tried making them shut all the way, but the hole in the plenum is too small for them to rotate all the way closed.
This holley unit is supposed to be a stock replacement that adds some performance, so I shouldn’t need a new manifold. Any help is appreciated.
cable length return spring working normal, distance the the same as stock? cable mount location?
what he said they should be shut.do they shut with out the cable hooked up?
that doesn’t sound good. Is there any obstruction anywhere? Is this a brand new part or an ebay special? you may have a defective part.
All are exactly the same as stock. This piece is identical to the one that came off the truck in the way that it is built.
No, if the cable is not hooked up, they still do not shut. It just seems like the flaps are too big for that hole. Almost like I need to run a spacer to allow them to shut.
I didn’t see any obstructions. I had a hell of a time getting the gasket to sit flat, but once I did it seemed fine getting it seated on hte manifold. Also, it is a brand new part. When I got the box, it had never even been opened.
I’ll check some more tonite on it and see what it does. Thanks for the input, guys.
EDIT - Here is the link to summit’s page for the EXACT part I’m trying to use on my truck. Made for an 87-89 Chevy TBI

did it close all the way without the gasket?
I’m not sure. Good question. I will take a look at that, thanks!
