Ok, so on my 98 Honda Accord the master cylinder went bad. They switched from a plastic to a metal one. In order to get the metal one in you had to cut the steel hydraulic line. I tried to use a compression fitting and it had a very slow leak. I also tried a home flaring tool(which sucks) and I couldn’t get it to grip the line to flare(probably because the steel is to hard). I will pay $40 to anyone who can come, put two 1/4 " steel lines back together. Or if anyone has any tricks they could tell me let me know. I may be able to drive the car a bit, but not to far(car is currently in the bellevue/sewickely area). THIS IS AN EASY $40 IF YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
I also had to replace the slave cylinder because it stripped when attempting to bleed the system. I t was also plastic, and switched to metal. All this after doing a stage 2 clutch…I think it was to much pressure for the old seals. I NEED THIS DONE ASAP!!! -Thanks, Jack
Ok, after searching the net a bit, would it be pssible for me to just stick in a peice of rubber line ther and clamp it? Would this hold the pressure or would it be a leaky situation again? Thanks, again - jack
I have a good flaring tool, hit me up on aim
do you want to make the $40 and come do it? I am fed up with it…you stated that you drive past the fish store every day. I am 30 seconds up the street(emsworth). Let me know…i never see you on aim anymore
been away
Where r u located?
right off of route 65 near emsworth/bellevue…
So does anyone think the rubber line will work? I am assuming it would have to be fuel line since I am dealing with hydraulic fluid.
I stopped at honda this morning and they said there was a service bulletin. Thye wanted to replace all items with factory parts(over $300). So I am stuck with having to get this peice back together....HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!
just pay a shop to do it right since you obviously have no clue what you are doing. People would help you if you did not lowball on every job that you need to get done to your car
$40 for a flange is a lowball? I though that was twice of what it is worth. I did go to honda and they stated that you can not flange this because there is a seam on the steel line. Pep Boys said the same thing. If I could find a shop to do it I would. I beleive my only option at this point is rubber hose, but I don’t know if it will hold the pressure.
If by using a rubber hose you mean sliding a rubber hose onto the hard piping then clamping it don’t even bother. The stock hard line should be able to be flared with a decent flaring tool or else trace the hard line back to a threaded joint and replace ot with a new hard line with a fitting already on the end. I know NAPA as well as many other autoparts stores carry a wide variety of hard lines that should work.
just measure it, bend it, and flare it.
A decent flare tool is crucial. I have a $10 cheapy I bought awhile ago and it was giving me hassle trying to get some lines flared. I ended up breaking it (thank god) and borrowed my grandpaps. His was a high quality, solid one and voila… flared it perfect the first try and it has never leaked.
So my point it, try a better tool.
took it to good year and they flared it. he went to push the clutch in and it leaked like crzy. now i had to order a clutch line from honda for $118 bleh…hanks for all your suggestions though!
