Holden Coupe 60 - the new Monaro?

storage space, safety specs (a higher line around the car is safer), and general modern design trend.

i’d buy it

Does it even have shocks/struts? There’s about .2mm of fender gap.

i am not allowed to agree with this statement because if i did agree with this statement i would get in serious trouble. so i’m not agreeing.

edit: the more i look at it the more i see a CTS chassis but lowered

fuck modern safety and fuck the modern design trend (in reguards to the high belt line). my second gen taurus doesn’t have a high belt line and it almst always comes out on top in major accdents. it isn’t the most attractive car anymore but it isn’t necessary to make the doors and rear end so high that I can’t see out of them when i’m driving. Hello blindspots!

amazing

I <3 Holden

^ Wait until you’re t-boned in that POS Taurus. That high belt line on new cars is there because the doors are full of high strength steel to save your ass in a side impact collision, and so a trucks front bumper isn’t connecting square with your head.

Couple things:

It’s still a Zeta (not a Sigma, like the CTS), so yes, it’s “genetically” similar to the Camaro. And it still has the Commodore’s wheelbase, so it’s decently roomy inside (except for the coupe’s rear headroom, that is).

And yes, they’ve fitted the LS7 in a HSV version of the Commodore, so that would fit (and presumably the LS9, too.)

And the big thing that’s probably going to keep it from coming here is how the Camaro does and what it’ll do for CAFE - though I’d argue that if it’s small-volume (like the last GTO) it’s mileage is less of an impact than it’s “halo” capability for Pontiac.

really. like when I was driving my moms taurus and a sliverado ran a light at T-boned me at 50mph?

I had a cut on my wrist from glass

a front passanger at wouldent have done so well, but a silverado is a lot of truck and it threw my car clear across the intersection probably 30feet

Fixed. Had it been the drivers side you’d be dead. My point remains valid.

Second, it’s your sho the previous boxy design, which has even less safety features built in?

please show me a pic of a car that can take a 50mph hit from a vehicle nearly 3 times its weight.

^quoted before the edit

That is sexy. Bring it to the states.

The Holden is teh hotness, but if by some chance it does come over here I’m sure Pontiac will ruin the styling.

I think Pontiac did just fine with the G8

And the GTO looks fine to me too

Touche, I just can’t personally get into the front end styling. Not to mention, I feel the interiors on all domestics are physically painful to look at.

edit: I do think the G8 will be nasty, though. Lots of potential.

have you been in a new goat?

Yes. Not sure what you’re getting at, but the seats are terrible and the rest of the interior is not too spectacular IMO.

I hope that design becomes the new firebird! :stuck_out_tongue:

Come sit in my GTO and see if you still feel the same. Way better than most of what GM has been putting out. The GTO has 8 way power adjustable bucket seats for the driver and passenger. I have no idea how you can say they’re terrible. They could use a little more bolstering on the track but on the street and long trips they’re phenominal.

Or the G8’s interior… sexy:

Compare to an overseas Ford interior:

Just seems better than any stateside Ford interior I’ve seen.

IDK I guess my major complaint is the seats that are just too big and look like overstuffed pillows. But then again they are built around the typical fat American and just don’t hold me well.
