Honda s2000 (b/c I look like Johnny Tran)

just trying to contribute to Geoff’s thread

Found one this weekend just outside of Watkins Glen at a small used car dealership.
Red '00 S2000.
$7200.
All it has was the price on it, no one was around so the mileage couldn’t be checked. Car was far from perfect, obvious the price reflected that.
Some rust starting and saw one small dent on the pass. fender.

I’m sure his thing will go off

My thing just went off

There were a couple more black ones with 70-80k for $10k.

Personally I love this 77 celica with a 05 S2000 swap, 268whp

It has over 200k, 4 chopped tires, and exterior is beat… I know the car.

Tires may have since been changed then, they looked new. It’s “beat” for an S2k, but it’s still a 10 yr old Honda. The rust starting along the rocker and bubbling along the pass. side quarter was the first things that I saw. Interior looked to be in good shape for 200k miles then.

200k on an s2000… jeez.

I’m checking out a few leads - but why is it that half of these s2000’s have had new motors put into them? The sellers all say “receipts included” but I’m still not very comfortable with that…

i dunno… the motors always seem to pop on them… that makes me scared about buying a high mileage ultra high revving car.

high compression from the factory will do that

put a 3mm headgasket and add some boost  lol

GL with the search!

high compression and down shifting too hard usually caused by tracking them makes them pop. as long as you take good care of the motor tho it should last. ive put about 30k on my car in 2 1/2 summers and it still drives nice.

Mine is always for sale for the right offer.

bumper cars

preferably <50k miles and not requiring a bidding war

2 Questions for anyone who knows:

a. Are there any differences between AP1’s throughout 2000-2003?

b. Can you turn traction control 100% off on the AP2s that are equipped with them?

A. The axle nuts TSB IIRC should be done on all '01+ cars.
I also believe 02+ got the glass rear window.
B. I don’t know.

Brent_strong would know best

TSB??

technical service bulletin

its something that often goes wrong but isn’t life threatening so no recall. just something the manufacturer knows is a fault and should get fixed.

IE. 3.5 Nissan have a tsb on the timing chain… they have been known to make a clicking noise around 100k

Axle nuts just needed to be retorqued on early models if I remember correctly.
